On September 11, 2016, the witness went to feed trout kept in a barrel at a spring on a family farm and found two fresh tracks in soft mud where cattle had been drinking. The witness chased the cattle away and made a plaster cast of the right track, noting the left track was angled and could not be cast. An investigator later visited the site, documented the stick fence around the spring and the cast dimensions, and noted additional sounds reported at the location.
Ginseng hunter and stepson have lengthy encounter 20 miles west of Beckley
The witness and a companion were harvesting ginseng when they heard repeated unusual sounds including a low growl and a loud siren-like tone. Over several minutes they heard heavy fast footsteps and watched smaller trees shake violently while catching partial glimpses of a large bipedal creature that kept trees between itself and them. Several trees snapped and fell in the same direction, and rocks were later seen rolling down a nearby point. The pair inspected freshly broken trees before leaving the area the way they came.

A couple hiking in the Otter Creek Wilderness became disoriented after several hours. They noticed a large dark silhouette on a ridge about 100 yards away, then heard monkey-like sounds for about 30 seconds and saw a tall thin tree violently shaken. They interpreted the displays as threatening and quickly left the area.

The witness and two companions hiked into rugged forest to camp overnight for turkey hunting. Late at night they heard a prolonged unfamiliar howl, and a few hours later heard slow heavy footsteps approach within feet of their tent before withdrawing when spoken to. The next morning they found a large scat pile uphill and then left the area.

The witness stepped onto the back porch for fresh air at night and noticed a wet-dog odor, then saw a large brown hairy biped under the yard security light. The creature fled at a fast pace when the witness gasped, swinging its arms as it moved. The next morning the witness and family found large barefoot-like prints with a long stride in the garden.

The witness and a companion were driving south from home around 1:30 a.m. when a tall, hairy creature ran north past the passenger side of their car. They turned around in a nearby lot but did not see it again. Later they found flattened grass in long strides, possible footprints up a hill, and hair caught on a fence wire.

While driving home shortly after midnight, the witness encountered a hair-covered biped standing in a forest road and honked at it. The figure ran swiftly uphill along the road and then crashed through elderberry bushes and disappeared downslope. The next day the witness found prints in muddy holes in the road and broken bushes at the exit point.
Possible vocalizations heard by backpackers in Otter Creek Wilderness
The witness and two companions were backpacking and camping in a wilderness area, working to start a fire at dusk when the witness and one companion heard a loud, long howl-like scream repeated three times from far up a hollow. The witness judged it unlike any known local animal call. Later that night after the fire burned down, the witness alone heard loud stomping and large branches snapping near the creek close to camp for a few minutes.

The witness was driving south on Route 55 near Seneca Rocks late at night in rain while towing a trailer when he saw a tall hair-covered biped about 20 feet away. He turned around, shined headlights and a flashlight into the woods, then heard movement through brush, vocalizations and wood pounding for several minutes before silence. He returned the next day, found apparent footprints, and photographed them.

While checking nets during a late-night bat survey, the witness and two coworkers heard a whoop and then saw a tall hair-covered biped cross a dirt road in front of them. The creature looked at them, took two steps up an embankment and disappeared. The group fled and later returned with two more people to find large footprints in mud and trampled vegetation before leaving the site.

The witness and her daughter were driving on a remote dirt road about six miles off the main road when they noticed very large barefoot-like footprints in snow. The prints were larger than a size 12 shoe, had a longer second toe, and led up the mountain across a fence, which they did not follow. On follow-up the witness reported finding four prints measuring at least sixteen inches long, noting the maker crossed a four-foot fence without a change in stride.

In June 2001 the witness's children discovered large footprints in the field behind the family mobile home and photographed them. About a week later the children heard something running across the hillside while playing at the creek, and the family dog chased it and later returned covered in slime. The children later encountered large rocks rolling toward them on the hill, and the witness heard a loud prolonged growl, with a horrible unidentified odor lingering after the hillside activity.

While riding ATVs on private property, the witness group stopped to eat near a creek. The witness noticed several large human-like footprints beside where she sat, including one much larger than a companion's boot. The prints led toward the creek and the stride between them was too long for her to match. No camera was available to document the tracks.

The witness and a companion were camped in a remote glen for a weekend trip. Around 2:30 a.m. the witness woke to camp disturbance and a deer, then sensed a large presence watching the tent from nearby pines, hearing breathing and later branches moving. Next morning the witness and companion found a single large human-like footprint near the pines, which the companion then smudged.

That night the group heard loud piercing screams in the forest and smelled a strange skunk- and sweat-like odor, and the witness sounded a personal alarm which seemed to drive something away. The next morning they found more tracks near the campsite along with some broken branches.

The witness and a young relative were walking by a lake at night while camping when they heard a commotion. They watched two very large black upright figures and then a third taller one stripping branches and bark from trees for about 15 minutes from about 125 feet away before running back to their camper. The next day the witness returned to find stripped trees and limbs piled at their bases.

The witness was deer hunting in a wooded area in the late afternoon when a tall, hair-covered biped walked across about 30 yards away from right to left. The creature continued down to the witness's elevation, around a hill and down a logging road through a meadow until out of sight over 2-3 minutes. The witness later searched the meadow without relocating it and later found leaf impressions showing a long stride.
