Two coworkers driving to work encountered an upright wolf-like creature standing beside the road. It watched them as they nearly stopped beside it, then crossed behind them and ran up a steep bank. The witness later visited the site and found tracks showing it scaled a high dirt bank in two leaps.

The witness was scouting high-elevation timber for a later elk hunt when he noticed tree breaks, pushovers and tracks. From boulders he glassed about eight hairy bipeds with young, watching them for about half an hour as some appeared to hide at a choke point while others circled. Over several nights a loud screaming vocalization was heard around 9 p.m. and the uncles repeatedly chased the source uphill. One uncle confronted a very tall hair-covered biped at close range and fired over its head, while later nights brought a spotlight glimpse of a large dark mass, a small 4-foot figure, answering calls from another ridge, uprooted trees and reddish hair tufts, before the activity moved away.

The witness was hunting deer alone in the morning when he entered a brushy opening on a hilltop and noticed a tall black furry human-like figure about 40 feet away with its back turned. The figure was breaking and twisting branches from small trees while moving its upper body. After watching briefly and deciding it was neither a bear nor a human, the witness left the area quickly and ended the hunt.

Three people were out at night exercising a coon dog when they found two very large footprints in a cornfield between woods. They examined the prints by light, became frightened, and left for the truck. The reporter later returned to photograph the prints and compared one to a size-13 boot.

Three people walking and exploring near a harvested soybean field noticed large steps in the grass and then found a very large footprint in dirt that had washed into the grass. Over several days and nights they reported heavy impacts, rustling, a skunk-like odor, red eyeshine, wood knocks, whistles, talk-like mumbling, a whoop-ending vocalization, and bent trees and branch structures. The most intense moment was a predawn episode with a deep guttural roar followed by a scream-like sound near camp. They left early after smelling the odor again near a plum thicket.

In the fall of 1983 the witness rode a bike to a friend's house at the end of a wooded gravel lane and found no one home. He then saw a tall black-haired upright figure tear a limb from a tree and look at him. He fled by bike toward the main road while hearing branches breaking and heavy footsteps alongside him until he reached the highway, where the sounds stopped.

As a boy the witness and his cousin left a catfish in his grandparents' creek and found it gone the next day with muddied water and two large bare human-like footprints nearby. A short time later while sitting alone on a swing set he watched a reddish-brown creature part bushes about 50 yards away and stare at him for about a minute, moving its mouth, before backing away.

A very large hair-covered biped took one long stride into the path about 20-25 feet away and faced the car for a minute or more, breathing heavily and flexing its fists. After a whistle-like sound from the woods, the creature made a dismissive huff, stepped out of sight in one stride, and left silently. The two men drove away and did not return.

They heard something large moving through dense brush toward them, breaking branches, with heavy bipedal-sounding steps and a musty stagnant-water odor. After retreating to the campfire and later returning with additional group members, the group heard rapid heavy steps approaching and fled in a vehicle, without ever seeing the source.

During a military alpine navigation exercise, the witness's squad stopped to rest at a stream and discovered large, deep footprints on a gravel bar and in soft soil. They measured the prints and stride with a tape measure and noticed occasional additional marks downstream before the trail ended. No maker was seen, and the squad leader suggested instructors may have made the prints as a joke.
