On the way back they repeatedly heard something walking with them that stopped when they stopped. From a field below they had small rocks land near them several times and left as it got dark.

From several hundred yards away they watched a hair-covered biped stand up, pace near the treeline, flail its arms, puff its chest, and repeatedly pick up dirt clods to sling toward them. The pair kept their distance and walked out to the road, feeling the animal was agitated and territorial and did not follow them.

Another local man out bow hunting for the first time stepped through a barbed-wire fence and looked down to see a large track. He stepped back, gave up the hunt, and never went bow hunting again.
