The witness and companions were exploring near woods and swamp when the witness noticed a very large human-like bare footprint in snow near a companion's boot. The witness describes repeated activity over years living near woods in White River Township. The witness reports seeing part of a tall hair-covered figure peeking from brush, finding deer carcasses cached high in trees, stacked bone piles and dugout shelters, hearing breathing and strange calls, smelling musk, feeling watched, and being chased at night by a bipedal creature that halted near the road.

The mother found a very large footprint with clear definition at the corner of the house. She tried to preserve it and photographed it with a tape measure for scale, showing it dwarfed a human foot and sank into the ground. After this she became convinced something large was around.

The grandfather drove in at dusk to find pigs raising a disturbance and something large scattering through the woods. He asked the witness's father for a gun and they found leaves torn up and limbs broken where it had plowed through. The grandfather was badly rattled and thereafter always carried a rifle there.

The guest relayed his father's account of a night when the family was home while the grandfather was away hauling freight. After a foul odor and prolonged barking by the guard dog, a long loud vocalization was heard, the dog was apparently dragged from under the chicken-coop camper, and three household members separately reported red eyes staring through windows. By morning the dog was dead and mutilated, all chickens were gone with feathers and footprints scattered, and the coop hatch had been opened from underneath.

No creature was reportedly seen clearly, and the interpretation as possible Sasquatch activity developed over later years.

In late July 1974 the witness walked with his parents and dog south along a trail toward thick woods. As they walked they heard loud cracks, pops and snaps from the treeline that seemed to parallel their movement, smelled rotten garbage, and the dog became fearful. Near the site of a previously found stick shelter they heard a tree snap and crash nearby, then turned back while snapping sounds seemed to follow them to the clearing.

The witness was snowmobiling through a remote marshy area in February when they came upon a trail of barefoot human-like prints in deep crusted snow. They stopped to examine the trail and concluded the prints were not from a bear, snowshoes, or anything familiar. They left quickly in the car, with the witness feeling the source was too big to be people.

He became uneasy and walked out to his car while watching behind him. Near his car he noticed a broad, roughly 8-foot-tall bipedal form standing about 35 yards away behind dense cover, which he believed had followed him. He left with a handgun ready and avoided hunting the swamp for several years.
