Morning encounter with a moose hunter in northern Ontario
While hunting moose by ATV the witness stopped on a trail for a snack while a companion rode ahead to scout. After hearing brush movement and heavy footsteps, the witness saw a tall, muscular, dark-haired biped step onto the trail, look toward the companion's direction and then at the witness, sniff and grunt, then walk silently across a meadow into thick brush. After the companion returned they found only indistinct marks and disturbed vegetation, then heard a single loud crack like wood being struck and fled the area.
Four friends saw and heard 8 foot creature plow through the trees while they were out fishing
The witness and companions returned at night to the same lakeside spot where they had been frightened the night before. They heard a distant roar that suddenly sounded a few feet away, lit the area with a spotlight, and saw a tall upright creature with its back to them that ran and then paused. The creature roared again when shot at and pushed over a green cottonwood before the group left.
Loud vocalizations sounds heard
During a nighttime military training bivouac near Cat Lake, the witness heard huffing and barking sounds approaching down a moonlit hillside with shaking and falling trees. A large upright man-like form with broad shoulders stepped into the clearing, huffed loudly, then ran upright across the clearing with swinging arms and heavy steps felt in the ground. The platoon woke, packed rapidly, and moved away, and a daylight check found knocked-over trees and disturbed soil but no prints.

A week later the witness returned to the same woods with a relative and dogs. Footsteps followed them and stopped when they stopped, then something circled them whooping and making gibberish sounds while another answered from the right. Trees sounded like they were being ripped up and the dogs fled the area.
Footsteps near Huntsville, Alabama (1990)
The witness and four companions camped overnight on a mountain ridge to celebrate finishing a music recording. Late at night they heard clear bipedal footsteps approaching up a steep slope, followed by breaking limbs and circling around their camp outside the firelight for over half an hour. They also heard loud exhaled huffs that frightened them. They abandoned camp and returned the next day for their gear.

The witness was teaching a companion how to camp without fire or lights in wooded terrain when they realized they were surrounded by several large upright figures. The figures remained mostly still, with only minor sounds, while the pair talked and then backed out with firearms ready without firing at the figures. One figure was later seen leaping from the roadside high into a tree. The witness returned the next day to recover gear, found extensive large tracks, followed fresh tracks, and encountered one individual at close range.

The witness and a hunting partner encountered a very tall hair-covered figure on a raised railroad bed while walking to their tree stands. They shone a flashlight on it, saw a huge hand raised to its face, and watched it approach to about 25 yards. They fled to a ladder stand, then heard it running and a violent fight with another unseen animal that ended with a splash in the river, after which they waited until daylight to leave.

The witness and a companion were camping overnight by a creek in a swampy forest around midnight. They heard footsteps approaching along the creek to within about 30 yards, followed by loud screaming/howl-like vocalizations and sounds of a tree being torn up. The companion stepped a short distance into the woods to speak toward the sounds while the witness stayed by the fire with a shotgun without firing. After a few minutes the sounds and movement stopped and the source left without being seen.

The witness and companions were cooking catfish at a hunting camp when a noise came from the well where fish guts had been left. The witness went toward the well with a light and rifle, heard a moan, and saw a large dark form that stood upright. After shouting warnings and firing shots in the air, the witness said the form moved off and footsteps were heard in leaves. The next day large five-toed tracks were found at the well and most of the guts were gone.

The witness was reading late at home while dogs barked outside in the rain. A large hairy figure passed the back door making whistling and other sounds, and the porch light went out. The witness opened the door to a strong odor and saw the figure standing about 30 feet away before it left toward the woods amid crashing sounds and a distant answering whistle.

In 1987 the witness was deer hunting and camping in eastern Washington. After the group left him alone at a logging road camp, he heard bipedal footsteps approach his tent at night, felt something strike the tent, then heard movement near his car and a log being torn apart in a gully before fleeing by vehicle to the highway. A night or two later he returned with a hunting companion and both heard multiple chattering, tonal and clicking vocalizations from different directions surrounding the camp.

The witness was archery hunting from a ground blind near a hog wallow when he heard close grunting and breathing that he could not see. After the sounds stopped he inspected the area and found very large scat and large deep tracks leading to and away from the scat. He first assumed hogs and then a very large bear made the sign, but later judged the scat too large for a Florida black bear.

The witness and a companion were sleeping in a truck bed while camping when they were awakened by something circling on foot. The circling continued for about 1.5-2 hours with branch-breaking sounds, grunting, and a strong wild odor, while they remained lying down without looking. Near dawn the sounds moved off to the southwest, and in daylight they found disturbed pine needles and broken tree limbs nearby.

In May/June 1986, the witness was helping a companion gather firewood on a farm when they found trees stripped of bark with snapped branches. Later, while sitting by a pond, the witness saw a very tall, muscular, reddish-brown upright creature about 100 feet away at an electric fence near tobacco trailers. The creature sniffed the air and grunted while a dog barked, then ran back into the woods. The companion's father arrived with a shotgun and found footprints larger than his boot where the creature had stood.

In 1985 the witness and a companion were remote camping near Patrick Creek when they heard loud primate-like screams and conversational voices from a nearby ridge around 11 p.m. During the night the witness heard heavy tramping and deep breathing just outside the tent while a normally bold dog hid trembling inside. At dawn the witness found the campsite duff heavily scuffed with signs of foot traffic that had not been there the previous evening.

Two teenagers camped on a mountain logging road were harassed by thrown sticks, loud grunting and tree-banging sounds, and a strong foul odor. When they shone a light into the woods about 25 yards away, they saw a very tall fur-covered figure that ducked behind a tree. They put out their fire and fled down the trail, saying the figure followed them most of the way back.

The witness was on night shift at an isolated gravel pit and walked up the hill to the porta potty during a break on a bright moonlit night. He mistook an approaching figure for a co-worker, hid to startle him, then came face to face at about 15 feet with a very large hairy biped that grunted, producing a visible cloud of breath. The creature walked into the bush and snapped a large branch, the witness fled down to the crusher, drove to town, and later returned with his friend to find a torn branch and large spaced steps leading to a ledge.

While hiking through woods after crossing a posted fence, the couple found a large matted grass area, a broken tree top, and very large wide bare footprints in mud with no shoe prints. They also heard an owl and woodpecker sounds in daytime and a horrible smell, then felt uncomfortable and left quickly to a highway.

Three hunters camped in a river bottom over the opening weekend of bow season. Over several days and nights they reported heavy impacts, rustling, a skunk-like odor, red eyeshine, wood knocks, whistles, talk-like mumbling, a whoop-ending vocalization, and bent trees and branch structures. The most intense moment was a predawn episode with a deep guttural roar followed by a scream-like sound near camp. They left early after smelling the odor again near a plum thicket.

While camping on an island during a multi-day canoe trip, the witness and a companion heard a distant crying-like sound that grew louder and became high-pitched growling as something paced on the opposite shore after dark. They tracked the sounds with flashlights but never saw the source, though they thought trees were swaying. After a rifle shot was fired over the sounds, the vocalizations stopped and the source was heard running away through the forest.
