The witness was canoeing alone on the river in the afternoon and had to pull out to drag the canoe around a log jam. He smelled a terrible odor and was paced by something unseen that stopped when he stopped, then heard screaming, breaking limbs, and saw a large log thrown and trees violently shaking. He fled in the canoe to the center of the river.
Multiple incidents around river slough south of Belleville
Two companions were camping by a slough around 1 a.m. when loud whooping and moaning calls were heard from about 30 feet behind them and then repeated louder and closer. Their small dog cowered in the tent and stayed silent. They fled in their vehicle leaving gear behind, and the next day found the tent open, food missing, bedding disturbed, and a large unidentified footprint nearby.

The witness visited a pine forest site three times in the early morning. On the first visit he heard heavy footsteps retreating, smelled a skunk-like odor, and saw a rock thrown into water. On later visits he heard loud repeated calls and low moans, heard footsteps approach to within about 15 feet without seeing the source, had a large stick thrown near him, left food and recorded vocalizations, and noted indistinct footprints and large broken trees.

Three people were camped overnight in a valley when they heard a deep growl followed by a howl. They then heard large branches or trees snapping and being thrown toward camp, followed by sounds of a small animal in distress and then silence. Finally they heard something large running away through the woods, breaking branches and rustling leaves. They saw nothing in the darkness and could not identify the source.

The witness and her husband took two nieces to wade at a swimming hole under a railroad bridge. While the husband explored the wooded edge alone, he heard whisper-like voices and mirrored footsteps that left him uneasy. As he rejoined the group and recounted the experience, a large limb flew from the trees into the water, followed by a loud splash and grunt from the same area. The group apologized, left tobacco, and departed without investigating further because of the children.

The witness was walking home at night near a creek when something began throwing sticks and rocks and following her. The throwing reportedly paused when cars passed. Near a recently fallen tree he encountered three dogs, one of which acted aggressively, then heard an extremely loud, powerful vocalization he could feel, saw riverside vegetation including a small tree whip and break, and had a stick splash down in front of him though no person was visible. He left the creek frightened.

The witness was hunting deer from a remote elevated blind on two consecutive mornings. After wildlife fell silent around 7 a.m., prolonged branch breaking and pounding on trees was heard for hours, a frightened hog fled the woods, a branch struck the blind, and deep growls were heard. On the second morning approach, something was heard walking alongside in the brush and a close growl was heard near the stand before the noises resumed at daybreak. Nothing was ever seen and no tracks were found.

Residents in a Campbell County community reported a large ape-like primate on the loose over several weeks in autumn 2003. One resident reported seeing the animal at close range, noting a strong odor, and said it threw a kitten toward them. Other reports described a home intrusion with scattered belongings, stool deposits on property, and many missing or dead cats and kittens. Animal control and the sheriff's department investigated and warned residents not to approach the animal.

No full animal was clearly seen.

After a deep growl and handgun shots, they were confronted at the treeline by two large hairy figures that stomped, rocked, and threw branches. The witness then saw a very tall hair-covered creature standing behind them that hissed and splashed water toward them before the witness fled. The creature followed briefly then moved away making moaning sounds, and the witness saw a very large four-toed footprint while leaving.

The guest took his children and his daughter's boyfriend to cut firewood. They heard child-like giggling, found stacked wood thrown from the truck and food missing, and saw large footprints. While driving out, a log hit the truck hood and two large dark figures ran down the canyon alongside them.

Two companions were camping in remote steep woods while digging ginseng when they were awakened late at night by loud howls, screams, growls and chattering. Something shook trees and threw large rocks and small sapling trees into their camp for hours, retreating when the fire was built up and returning as it died down. At daylight they found saplings broken off and uprooted around camp and hiked out to the road.

The witness and friends drove to a remote gravel road to party at night. After a loud crash from a tree, something bipedal circled them making growling sounds and then gave a loud roar they could feel. It stepped into the spotlight as a massive white figure, climbed a bank in three steps and rushed their truck before they fled, later returning in daylight to find impressions on the bank.

During a deer-hunting drive in foggy woods, the witness and his father found large bipedal tracks over their tire marks and concluded a bear could not have made them. As they circled back, an unseen animal tracked them, producing a strong foul odor and a high-pitched squeal before thrashing off toward the mother waiting at the truck. They later found uprooted small trees, additional tracks in camp, hair on fencing, and a woody debris structure, and heard screaming and a howl that prompted a relative to leave camp.

Two teenagers camped on a mountain logging road were harassed by thrown sticks, loud grunting and tree-banging sounds, and a strong foul odor. When they shone a light into the woods about 25 yards away, they saw a very tall fur-covered figure that ducked behind a tree. A family living in a rural wood-frame home reported repeated nighttime visits over several years by two large hair-covered bipeds, one larger and one smaller. The creatures were said to peer in windows, mimic an infant's sounds, produce a strong septic odor, throw heavy tanks, damage a vehicle, and leave hair on the house. Livestock on surrounding farms were found dead with intestines removed. After the father fired through a wall at one creature, only the smaller one was reportedly seen, and activity lessened after relatives guarded the house and a protective ritual was performed.
