Two soldiers on a nighttime security patrol left the patrol base and noticed unnerving silence, cold air, a strong rotten odor, and sounds paralleling them and following behind. They heard a knocking sound and a whistle that mimicked their own signal, then encountered a large shaggy shape blocking the trail that rose from a crouch and walked away upright. They were found by an instructor about a mile from the base perimeter and later told by leadership not to discuss the incident.

Later two soldiers in ambush position heard a loud scream-roar twice, followed by the sound of a large rotten tree falling and brush breaking. The sounds then stopped and the presence was heard leaving.

On signal they shined high-beam lights and saw a tall dark brown hairy figure step across the trail in one stride and run up a wooded hill breaking limbs. They gathered the dogs and left without approaching.

While fishing from a jon boat, the witness and companion heard something crashing through the woods and saw a tall, reddish-brown hair-covered creature watching them from behind bushes. They paddled to their campsite across the river while the creature paced the opposite bank, with footsteps and breaking limbs heard. After an overnight splash and sounds of it leaving, they found hand and finger marks where it had climbed the muddy bank.

During summer 1965 the witness was exploring woods near military housing when he found very large barefoot prints in red clay leading into the trees. As teenagers the witness and friends camped and hiked up a reputedly haunted mountain at night to look for a cabin. They were paralleled on both sides, heard whoops and powerful wood knocks and branches being ripped, then a large tree was pushed over close to them and they fled. The running camcorder captured the sounds and briefly illuminated two large almond-shaped red eyes that narrowed and turned away before the tree fell.

The witness and a companion camped separately in the North Georgia mountains after spilling bacon grease near a creek. At night the companion reported heavy footsteps, a large outline at the treeline, and large hairy bodies passing the tent while the tent was shaken violently. In the morning they found concentrated large footprints at the grease spill and the witness's own camp trashed.
