In December 2001 four hunters were leaving the woods along a logging road after dark when something in the adjacent swamp repeatedly screamed and charged toward them while breaking branches. The group was armed but could not see the source, felt the ground shake, and described the screams as extremely loud and frightening. After moving to an aspen grove, the group heard loud repeated knocking sounds likened to logs or sticks hitting trees. The next day after snowfall, the witness returned and found a fresh cow elk carcass with its chest torn open and large indistinct tracks with a long stride nearby.

Two forestry technicians stopped for lunch at Onion Lake while closing seasonal gates. During a walk around the lake, the witness found tracks coming out of the shallow water and going into the forest. Both workers examined the prints, measured them with a tape, recorded details in notebooks, then left to finish work without telling supervisors.

While hunting in dense pines the witness repeatedly heard loud expulsions of air and branches breaking moving around him. After returning to the area with his father, deer were spooked by the same sound. The witness then saw a large black-haired figure sitting under a pine about 30 yards away and stared at it before it stood and bounded away making the same noise.

The witness and a relative found four large footprints and one large handprint in a single line on a steep bank beside a logging road. The prints were estimated to span 15-20 feet and were left in loose wash material. The next morning they marked the prints with taped sticks and filmed them with a video camera.

They counted over a dozen identifiable tracks with deep impressions and long strides, and saw no other human footprints. He heard whooping and scream-like vocalizations followed by a large tree falling, plus heavy footsteps, and later found large ground impressions, broken limbs and tops, and animal hair high on a tree. An investigator later reviewed photos of broken and twisted trees and received frozen scat and hair samples for examination.

Over two nights a group of five gathered outside on the property for hide-and-seek and heard strange noises. The husband and a companion went to investigate and saw an entity 50 yards away hiding between two silos, noted for goldish reflective eyes, with a second smaller similar entity present on the last night. Tracks with reported measurements were found where they investigated.

The witness and companions were camping by a river when the witness heard groaning and splashing in the water around 2-3 a.m. The witness shouted, thinking it was a companion playing around, and the source of the noise left. At sunrise the group found very large footprints leading from the water into the trees.
