At the base of a bluff area they heard an extremely loud scream that echoed down the river, then ran to a nearby house where they heard the scream again from the woods.

The witness was deer hunting in the morning and waiting against a tree when a nearby deer spooked. He then heard heavy breathing and saw a tall hair-covered upright creature standing a few feet behind him. Family members found a line of large human-like footprints in sand that started at a lake, went up a steep sand bank, and continued toward a thick swamp. The prints were described as about 16 inches long with a very long stride of about eight feet. The discovery was reported in summer 1991 after a relative noticed the tracks by the lake.
