Along the trail they report many freshly snapped trees and two trees with twisted tops near a creek crossing. While elk hunting, the witness and two companions found a single well-defined human-like footprint near a creek. The print was described as very wide with large distinct toes, no claws, and measuring about 11 inches long. The witness, experienced with bear tracks, judged it was not a bear.

About half an hour later while calling from a ground blind, the woods went quiet and a short siren-like scream came from behind them. They then saw a large dark furry animal running away through small trees, pushing them aside, and they left the area.
