In the morning the witness found deer remains, drag marks, and a shelter-like structure of bent and broken pines.

After starting the car and turning on headlights, they saw the animal on all fours on the passenger side apparently avoiding the light, then dash about 35 feet in front of the car into the woods where it stood up. The creature was described as over 7 feet tall, brown, fast-moving, and left muddy handprints and scratches on the car before the witnesses left for town.

The witness was night hiking with three companions along a canal road when he heard a loud guttural growl and saw a large tree shaking violently across a grassy field.
