Three bowhunting companions were camped overnight in an abandoned barn. After the witness made rabbit-distress calls with cellophane, a distant low moan grew into a loud mournful roar twice, followed by total silence from dogs and insects. The men remained silent in their sleeping bags until morning and then packed up and left without hunting.

In August 1988 on a rural farm with woods and creeks, the witness and a relative stood outside after dark to listen for a strange sound. They heard loud cries alternating from woods on both sides of the road where two creeks met, suggesting two animals, while noticing a strong musty odor and unusual silence of normal night sounds. She twice saw an 8-foot hairy figure on the property, and four armed relatives fired from the roof as the figure ran past a barn and jumped a fence unaffected.

The following spring the grandfather woke the guest and his brother on Easter morning to show deep large footprints in mud outside the bedroom window trailing to the parents window and front porch. To keep the mother from seeing them the grandfather had the boys wash the tracks away with well water. Later that day the brothers found matching large tracks in the field where the 1972 figure stood, measured one at about 19 inches, then heard an owl-like hoot tapering to a growl and fled.

Later that night the guest woke to a strong odor and saw a dark hairy figure filling the bedroom window looking in, while his grandfather held a pistol. The witness was at home at night when called outside by a relative to listen to a distant low moaning howl lasting several minutes while many dogs barked. The sound seemed to fade as if moving away and frightened the witness. No creature was seen and no tracks were found. The witness states similar howls occurred a couple more times that summer.

The witness was sitting outside on a warm late evening visiting with his father when he heard steady bipedal-sounding footsteps descending the steep wooded hill behind the house. The sounds grew closer to the treeline, stopped and shuffled briefly, then returned up the hill until out of earshot. The witness saw no light and heard no voice, and his father heard nothing.

They heard heavy footsteps, snapping twigs and rustling circling them in the dark but could see nothing. When they drove away, the witness looked back and saw a tall, broad, long-armed silhouette step into the light under a street lamp, prompting them to flee. She later heard that a woman's mutilated body was found in the park, after which the park was placed under a nighttime curfew.

In childhood, the witness and a companion heard a thumping noise while playing and went to investigate. They saw a large hairy animal squatting nearby using pieces of firewood to dig in the ground. The animal stood up, bared its teeth silently, and walked toward them, causing them to flee into the companion's house. When an adult checked moments later, the animal was gone leaving only disturbed ground.
