Two brothers were deer hunting and walking the center of a dark highway back toward town at night. Two unseen animals on opposite sides of the road screamed repeatedly, closed distance, and paralleled their movement. A teenager was walking a short distance between two houses on family property around midnight. He heard a loud thump nearby followed by sounds he interpreted as bipedal footsteps moving toward him. Two people fishing from a dock in the evening heard a powerful roaring scream from the west along the lake. About half a minute later a fisherman came running from the direction of the sound, appearing panicked. The two joined him and all three ran together back to the nearby campground, where he said something had been right next to him. They then broke camp and drove home.

Five years after his 1993 sighting, the guest returned for an eight-day expedition and was alone on a hillside calibrating seismic sensors above base camp. A hail cell forced him into nearby old-growth trees, where after urinating he heard an extremely loud roar ending in a guttural bark from about 100 feet away in dense brush. He remained frozen for two minutes, believing the vocalization was a warning to leave.

The witness and his brother were camping on a ridge trail during a multi-day hunting and camping trip. Late at night they heard something large approaching through low brush on two feet with very long strides. They jumped out of the tent with a rifle and spotlight but saw nothing despite clear visibility. They fired a shot for safety and got little sleep.

The group later returned to the site and found unusual scat.
