The witness reports hearing repeated wood-on-wood knocking for about an hour in the middle of the night. The pattern is described as three strikes followed by a pause, repeating. One other person heard the sounds at the same time, and both questioned who would be making such noise at that hour.
Unusual events at remote family cabin near Keene Valley, NY
Late at night in fall 2003 the witness walked about 25 feet from the remote cabin to the tree line to relieve himself. He heard very loud heavy stomping or bounding from about 25 yards away at the base of a hillside that shook the ground and stopped after a few seconds when he turned toward it. He saw nothing further, felt uneasy, and went back inside and locked the cabin.

The witness was indoors in the evening when distant howls were heard behind the house. About an hour later a very loud screaming howl was heard from just outside an open but blind-covered window. The witness felt paralyzed with fear and did not look out. Afterwards a relative's dog was found cowering in a corner having defecated, and it stayed hidden the rest of the night.

The witness was camping in a tent near Sabathday Point and stepped outside in the early morning to make a phone call. After the call he heard a noise and saw a large hairy human-shaped figure about 60 feet away walking up a slight incline. He watched for about five seconds, noted it lacked a bear-like snout, then ran back to the tent to tell his companions.

Two companions grouse hunting in a wooded gorge heard loud screaming-growl vocalizations from about 30 yards away in dense cover. The source moved around them with audible footsteps in snow and breaking branches, seeming to flank them and get behind them. After several minutes they left the area quickly while looking back and did not return.

In September 2000 the witness was near home bordering extensive forest when a long howl was heard approaching from a distance at dusk. The witness went into the woods with two dogs, a spotlight and a weapon to intercept what was first assumed to be a hunter's dog, but saw no hunter lights while the sound moved rapidly to within about 120 yards on the same level. The dogs behaved unusually and the witness felt terror, concluding the source was not a known dog or coyote, a view reinforced by later failure to match the sound to recorded wolf sounds and by nearby residents reporting similar howls.

A group of girls on a summer-camp hike entered a swamp-like area where they heard twigs snap, smelled a foul odor, and saw a dark hairy bipedal creature moving among trees. The creature paused and looked toward them after one girl screamed, and the group fled. A counselor later told them it was a bear, which the witness doubted because it walked on two legs and was in a swamp.

Frightened, they gathered their belongings and ran back down the trail while the animal tracked them from alongside the creek.

Six people were camping at a lakeside site late at night. After most of the group went to bed, the witness entered a tent set very close to the water. The witness and a companion heard splashing and branches moving behind the tent, then the witness saw an elbow-like shape drag down the tent wall. This was followed by loud heavy thuds of something running away from camp.

The witness was camping on the south side of Lewey Lake late in the evening when loud, unfamiliar screams were heard coming from across the lake. The cries did not match any known local wildlife or campers in the area. The witness later compared the sound to scream recordings associated with Bigfoot and found it very similar.

Two 13-year-olds were playing outside in front of a house on a snowy winter night when they saw a tall, hair-covered biped running along the side of the road about 50 feet away under a streetlight. They described it as 7 to 9 feet tall, covered head to toe in fur, and running faster than anything they had seen. After it ran out of sight, they ran inside to tell an adult, who did not believe them, and they stayed inside because they were frightened.

The witness traveled to woods near Eagle Lake to camp overnight and listen for unusual sounds. In the afternoon he found elongated foot-like impressions, including one 12-inch print with four toes. After dark from a tree stand he heard repeated wood-on-wood strikes, a tree falling without cracking, footsteps uphill out of sight, and prolonged human-like hooting from multiple directions, followed by hours of silence. He left on foot around 3 a.m. without further incident.

Two companions stopped on an unused dead-end road late at night. While one waited in the truck with the high beams on, a tall brown man-shaped animal appeared in the light. It stood still for about a minute, made a grunt sound, then turned and walked away with an unusual swaggering gait. The pair left the area in reverse, frightened by what they saw.

The witness and a companion were riding a four-wheeler through a swampy forest off abandoned tracks at dusk. The witness first noticed a black flash in the woods, then heard whistling and rustling behind them while riding slowly. Looking back, the witness perceived a large black bulk pursuing them and saw two yellow glowing eyes. The companion reportedly saw nothing, and the witness did not mention it at the time to avoid alarming the companion.

The witness hiked to a deer stand while hearing repeated groups of clicking sounds for about 45 minutes but could not locate the source on the ridge. While walking back out of the woods, the witness heard something large approach and stop behind them. The unseen source then made a very loud close grunt and, after the witness chambered a round, a loud guttural scream/grunt. The witness never saw the source.
Possible scream/howl heard near residence in Van Etten
In late summer or early fall 1997 around 10pm, the witness and the mother sat quietly on a relative's back deck watching stars in darkness. A strange vocalization lasting about five seconds came from 20 to 30 feet down the yard, then repeated seconds later from closer. The witness tried to turn on a light and searched the yard with a flashlight but saw nothing, and both went inside. No trace was found when checked the next day.
