The witness and a companion hiked about three miles into a wilderness area and stopped in a small meadow. From the surrounding trees they heard heavy footsteps and low soft grunting as an unseen source circled them twice over about ten minutes. Becoming uneasy, they walked out, stopped to listen, then hurried to their car while discussing the possibility it was Bigfoot.

The witness and a companion heard a loud scream at night at their farm home but could see nothing in the dark. The next morning they followed footprints in the snow starting about 75 feet from the home on the west side of the garage toward the swamp. The prints were described as large bare human-like feet, and hair was found where the track-maker appeared to have leaned against a pine tree, which the witness collected.
A young man and friends had two consecutive night encounters with an unknown creature
In February 1977 five youths camped in two VW buses at a remote, densely forested campground in the Trinity Alps. On two consecutive nights around 10:30 p.m., something rushed down the steep hill behind camp and violently rocked the bus the witness slept in. The first morning packs were found strewn and torn open; the second night a large boulder was found wedged behind the bus tire and the other bus had shifted about five feet toward the river. The group reported seeing nothing because windows were iced over, noting only hillside skid marks, rushing noises, and a brief strong odor before leaving early.
Vocalization near Little Eagle, South Dakota (1977)
[name withheld] drove about six hours north to the Standing Rock area after TV and newspaper reports of activity around Little Eagle. Camped by a river sleeping in his pickup after a nighttime hilltop watch, he heard three shorter sounds then a very loud prolonged high-pitched howl-wail from about 600 feet away. Dogs in the nearby village and coyotes on a ridge erupted after the sound. The hair on his neck stood up but he did not feel threatened.
Pinecone pickers hear growl/scream
The witness was camped with two relatives while collecting pine cones. Late at night they heard voices and shouting from an upper camp about 100 yards away, followed by a very loud growl/scream-like sound. The upper campers then slammed vehicle doors and drove away quickly, while the witness group stayed in camp frightened.

On a summer evening the grandmother was taking clothes off the line when a strong smell appeared. She ran to the porch, ordered the small children inside, latched the door, and something banged on the porch with growling noises. Days later she told the children that Bigfoot had been in the yard and forbade anyone going outside, even to the outhouse.

Three children walking on a wooded footpath noticed a tall female-like figure with a smaller juvenile standing by a tree off to the side. The larger figure stared at them, gave off a dead-animal smell, stepped toward them, growled and bared its teeth after being pointed out. The group fled toward a residence while hearing branches breaking, prolonged howling and screaming, and trees being beaten.

Three young Marines were sleeping at a creekside camp when one awoke to sounds of something large in the woods. All three then listened for an extended period as something heavy circled their camp across the creek with steady bipedal-sounding steps and breaking sticks while staying beyond the firelight. They built up the fire, stayed awake until dawn, then extinguished it and walked out, and afterward never stayed overnight there again.

A family camping at Sunrise Beach heard branch-breaking sounds overnight and the next morning found a very large footprint in a dried creek bed. Shortly after, they saw a large brownish hair-covered creature watching them from behind a tree on a hillside, which then walked away toward the campground road. The father also reported seeing it cross the road ahead while lifting a wire out of its way, and the family quickly left the area.

After pulling a pop-up camper into a lakeside clearing at sunset, the witness and his girlfriend noticed the woods go deathly silent. They then heard crashes, a cackle and growl, and something like a steamroller coming through the woods parting the treetops. They threw gear into the camper and drove out without stopping until pavement.

Two teenage boys clearing brush saw an animal approach, growl and pelt them with rocks, hitting one in the leg. They fled to a nearby house and returned with an older girl carrying a rifle. The creature was still there growling and throwing rocks, a shot was fired with a heavy recoil knocking the shooter down, and both groups left.

The witness and a companion were on a deer-hunting trip and had parked to sleep in the bed of a truck. Late at night they heard a loud howl followed by rapid gibberish and saw a dark shape in the road that stood and moved away with smooth motion. After returning to the truck and falling asleep, the witness was awakened by the truck rocking and heard something move alongside the vehicle before kicking scattered camp gear and walking away.
