The reporter and three companions spent about half an hour on an observation tower, where the reporter heard loud clicking and short high-pitched screams and noticed an absence of birds. While driving out of the refuge minutes later, the reporter and the front-seat companion watched a huge, very wide, all-black upright figure cross the wide road in about three steps and disappear into dense brush. The companions in the back seat did not see it, and a brief stop found only a disturbed path through the brush where it had entered.

In 1978 two people were fishing from a boat on a lake at dusk and stopped in a cove. They heard grunting and saw trees shaking violently on a brushy cliff, but saw no animal. Two large rocks were thrown from shore toward the boat, landing very close, prompting them to leave.

The witness describes lying on a couch at night in a grandparent's trailer when a loud crash was heard. Upon opening eyes, a very tall Sasquatch-like figure was staring through a window. Around 1978-79, after shooting fireworks during the day, the witness and a friend lay in bed with windows open. Something came to the window breathing very heavily for about three minutes while all went dead silent and the chained German shepherd hid under the house. The episode ended when a clock chimed, and nothing was seen outside.

The witness was gathering firewood in and around a clear-cut area with two relatives during the day. They heard a hooting sound and the witness hooted back. The two relatives quickly stopped the witness and the group left the area without collecting all the firewood.

Late at night the witness and a relative went to check on highly agitated horses, fearing a bear had entered the corral. By the time they arrived something was crashing away through brush and a tree used as a corral post had been snapped and bent over. By flashlight they found very large human-like footprints with five toe prints and slide marks around the tree base. They told other family members it was a bear, wiped out the prints, and the witness later sold the property.

The witness woke in the night after hearing a crash in her sleep and could not go back to sleep. The next morning a visiting parent told her about a train wreck that killed four young people overnight. She concluded her dream had been of those deaths.

In the evening rocks landed near them, followed by the sound of earth ripping and a large root ball thrown into the lake with a huge splash. The reporter did not see the source, but the companion reportedly saw something about seven feet tall, after which both fled to the driveway.

In spring 1978 the witness and a companion were parked in a car off a rural road in creek-bottom woods when a foul odor filled the area. They then heard nearby low grunts that erupted into an extremely loud, shrill scream that seemed to shake the car. Panicked, the witness drove away immediately and avoided the area afterward.

While camping with relatives in swampy woods, the witness heard prolonged screaming and strange noises through the night that frightened the group. They were unable to leave due to muddy roads and remained in camp until morning. At first light they found small trees snapped over, grass flattened, and what they described as huge footprints.

Something came out of the river about fifty feet away, walked upright and dark like a bear but with rounded primate ears. It moved branches with a hand, sniffed his incoming trail, then angled off. He was terrified and did not tell his father for years.

On the same trip, after hitchhiking back toward the parked truck, the witness got out in pitch darkness without a flashlight. From the side of the road the witness heard a grunt and movement approaching, then ran to the truck, started it, and drove away without seeing the source.
