A group of eight people were raccoon hunting with dogs when the dogs returned frightened with tails tucked. Shortly after starting to drive out, they saw a huge standing figure ahead of the truck estimated at 7.5 to 8 feet tall and dark in color. After backing up and later returning on foot, they found a large human-like footprint in mud in the road. They heard sticks breaking, left quickly, later returned to find the track destroyed by their vehicle, and subsequent visits produced no further sightings.

The creature moved onto the trail to block him, dropped to all fours, made a low bellowing monkey-like sound and curled its lip. The witness fled uphill along the ridge for about two and a half to three hours while the creature paced him at a distance, shook brush and tossed sticks and a small log toward him, and was seen again briefly from the chest up. As rain began the sounds grew more distant, allowing him to return to the trailhead where a search had started, and he told family he had been chased by a bear.

Three camp counselors were walking a trail at night when the narrator saw a tall, dark bipedal figure moving across a slope on the far side of a stream about 50-60 ft away. The figure passed near the group without answering their shouts, and a companion heard a rock-clacking stepping sound as it moved toward the stream ahead of them. The frightened group retreated to trees, waited until about 1 a.m., then continued out armed with sticks, finding no tracks afterward.

One companion fled while the witness briefly watched a huge dark-haired figure step down an embankment into the road about 30 feet away, hearing a grunt and smelling a musky pine odor. Both ran to the house and dogs chased the figure, with sounds of a violent struggle including roaring and shrieks before the dogs returned, one injured and another with blood on its mouth.

The witness and the witness's young son walked downstream toward a stream to fish, with their dog ahead. They encountered a large hairy figure crouched over an animal carcass about 30-35 yards away, noticed a foul odor, and watched it stand upright. The figure screamed several times as they retreated to the car and was still standing near the water when last seen from a ridge.

Late at night on July 4th while camping behind a relative's house, the witness left the campsite with a flashlight to use the bathroom. About a minute down the trail, a large dark-furred biped crossed the trail about 20 feet away, paused to look at the witness after the witness gasped, then walked away. The witness dropped the flashlight, ran back to camp panicked, and later declined to sleep outside.

About 200 to 250 feet ahead by a power-line pole he saw a very tall red-haired human-like creature with a baboon-like face scratching its back. After it made a growl-like sound he backed away and ran once bird sounds returned.

The witness and his wife spent a weekend camping in 1994 at Laguna Mountain where the campground was empty. At night they heard wolf-like howls and the next day on a desert trail they found crossed dead trees, heard loud animal cries, and watched a distant reddish hair-covered figure standing and slamming backward into a tree, which they first took for a bear. A ranger insisted there were no wolves or bears in the area. On the second night rustling around the tent and sudden overwhelming fear caused them to abandon camp and drive home in the early morning.

The van began rocking violently from side to side until the witness yelled, then the witness shone a flashlight outside and saw a hair-covered figure walking upright past the vehicle into the forest. A foul cesspool-like odor was noticed around the camp, and the companions said pebbles had been tossed onto their tent and something had brushed against it. The group built a fire, discussed what happened, and packed up to leave early.

While archery deer hunting on a trail in the morning, the witness reported feeling watched before seeing a creature walking rapidly toward him down the same trail. The creature approached for several seconds before turning off the trail and disappearing over a ridge about 70-80 yards away. The witness followed to the ridge top but left after hearing a grunt-like sound.

The creature raised its arms, jumped from the tower and ran into brush with sounds of trees breaking. After a brief silence a loud high-pitched scream was heard and a distinct odor lingered.

Two skateboarders riding ahead of their group heard a high scream then close low grunts off a paved bike trail. One crouched to look and saw a very hairy black bipedal animal crouched about 10 yards away that they had run past. The animal stood to about 6 to 7 feet tall, then ran upright into thick brush swinging its arms, moving very fast and loudly through deadfall before going silent. The pair fled to their companions and a later search of the dead brush found no tracks or sign.

The witness and a relative were on their deck at night when their dog barked persistently at the woods edge. The witness approached and found a crouched hairy animal that then stood upright on two feet and ran into the woods, knocking down trees amid screaming. The group fled inside with children, and the next day found hair, footprints, and disturbed garden produce in the woods.

After one companion shouted, a second shorter figure stood up beside the taller slumped figure, and both fled on two legs crashing through small trees. The witnesses estimated the taller figure at 7.5 to 8 feet tall, hid at the fire tower overnight, and noted broken limbs and a sweet unpleasant odor in the area the next morning.

After hearing a distant screeching sound and then a loud scream, they saw a short, heavy creature about 50 yards away that charged toward them. They ran back to a clearing where the pursuit stopped, then put out their campfire and left for the night.
