Man hears four bellowing vocalizations

The witness claims hearing four loud, long bellowing sounds spaced about 10 minutes apart while walking back to a car at Worthen Meadows. The sounds were described as mournful and coming from higher elevation to the west, preceded by a cool wind, a smelly odor, and nature becoming quiet. Three young men camped near the parking area also appeared to hear the final sound and quickly left.

While checking nets during a late-night bat survey, the witness and two coworkers heard a whoop and then saw a tall hair-covered biped cross a dirt road in front of them. The creature looked at them, took two steps up an embankment and disappeared. The group fled and later returned with two more people to find large footprints in mud and trampled vegetation before leaving the site.

The witness was working on a fence near the barn after dark when she heard a disturbance in the nearby woods that sounded like a deer being caught. About half an hour later she heard a loud powerful hollering howl from the woods, then heard it again from the area of the first noise as she prepared to leave. Frightened, she backed an ATV to the house and went inside, hearing nothing further when she returned outside with her husband. She believes the sound matched Bigfoot vocalizations she had heard on television and felt it could not have come from familiar local animals.

In July 2006 the witness was biking through a swampy, wooded area toward a friend's house in the late afternoon. Near a knoll the witness heard sticks breaking and footsteps, then saw a tall dark figure to the side and heard a frightening vocalization. The witness screamed and pedaled away fast while continuing to hear breaking sticks, and the creature reportedly fled bipedally in the opposite direction during about ten seconds of observation.

Late at night the witness stepped outside briefly with the dog before bed and heard an unfamiliar howling sound that frightened her. She quickly returned indoors with the dog while the sound continued for a few more minutes, followed by distant dogs barking. A neighbor living behind her home later said he heard something strange around the same time.

Shining a light, the witness saw the silhouette of a tall bipedal figure near the pond that stood up and ran off, with vocalizations continuing fainter into the distance. A relative living in the house came outside and heard the final vocalization and a distant gunshot, and another relative later arrived to find the area empty.

The witness had gone to bed with the window open around midnight and heard brush cracking after a few minutes. The witness looked out and saw a large fur-covered figure leaning over bushes for about 20 to 30 seconds. The figure turned its head toward the sound of an approaching car, then quickly ran behind a shed and disappeared.

In 2007 the witness led an armed group with spotlights to an area where relatives had heard screams. He shone a light across a field and saw a large dark hairy figure with outstretched arms run away in a split second. The group pursued into trees hearing walking and branches breaking but found nothing.

The witness woke a companion to listen, and relatives in a nearby trailer also heard it. The sound was unfamiliar to all listeners, and at times seemed to come from two directions. The source of the sound could not be identified.

A woman and a child went to a relative's house to feed a dog. The child chased the dog around the house out of sight, then screamed and ran back saying a monkey-like creature growled and ran into the woods, later adding there was a little one with its mother. The woman did not see the creature but heard movement in the brush.

The witness and a relative were camping overnight near a lake in the mountains when loud echoing screams woke them around 2 a.m. The witness managed to record the last two of several screams using a parabolic microphone and tape recorder. Nearby dogs reacted unusually, other campers also heard the sounds, and tree limbs were heard breaking about half an hour later.

Three backpackers hiking toward Hobler Lake at dusk noticed a large reddish-brown animal moving parallel to them for about an hour. After dark the witness saw a tall, wide, long-armed furry biped watching from behind a tree, which walked away when spoken about. The group camped at the lake, later hearing disturbance sounds and finding camp items slightly moved.

As they left the woods they heard a loud grunt about 20 feet behind them that frightened them and seemed territorial.
