Around 2 a.m. the witness heard loud scream-like howls from different directions that seemed to answer each other for about ten minutes while appearing to move. Late at night the witness sat by open backyard windows after turning down the TV and heard two long exhalations from just outside at head height. Frightened, the witness shouted out the window and fled to the front of the house, startling a sleeping relative and dog. The next day the witness found a large barefoot human-like footprint in soil against the house corner beneath the window.

It stood up and moved with unusual fluidity, grimaced and vocalized, then retreated toward the treeline while a larger concealed animal roared, snapped trees and shook vegetation. As she backed out between granite rock piles, she saw a massive auburn-haired arm pressed flat against the rocks close to her. She eventually left the area and became physically ill from fear and adrenaline.

The whoops came in pairs and were then joined by coyote howls and sounds of a violent chase that receded into the distance. The witness was turkey hunting at dawn on a wet, still morning when he heard a rhythmic sound like footsteps approaching up a valley. A tall upright creature came into view about 50 yards away, stopped, stared at him, and crouched after he clicked off his shotgun safety before continuing on and disappearing. He did not shoot, then ran back to his truck. He later described a foul smell lingering after the encounter.
