For six to eight months an elderly farmer and his wife reported nightly tapping that followed them room to room, shadows outside windows, a barn door torn open, missing dog food and missing outdoor dogs, and a low voice whispering the indoor dog's name. The responding deputy initially suspected neighbors, moonshiners or a grow operation, but later found a large hand-like dent in the house and an 18-inch footprint in the creek that he cast. The cast was later reported to show dermal ridges and to be considered authentic east of the Mississippi.

A driver stopped to help two motorists whose car had left the road after swerving to avoid a large hairy creature chasing a deer across the road. While fetching a rope from his truck to pull their car out, he walked directly into the creature standing behind his truck. He noted a foul smell, red eyes, and a low growl before it walked to the woods edge and then into the woods. He then helped move the car and continued his trip, shaken by the encounter.

They then smelled a very strong foul odor and heard unseen brush movement, followed by a second, closer howl. Both men fled through the brush and exited about half a mile from where they entered. The account was relayed to the reporter by a relative of one participant, who said the participant remained frightened of that woods afterward.

The witness was sitting inside a mobile home with an infant after dark when a dog began barking and would not leave its house. After turning out the lights and waiting, the witness saw a tall figure approach the trailer window breathing heavily and froze until it walked away. The elderly hunter appeared pale and frightened and told them he had just seen a huge bigfoot at the bottom and had dropped his rifle while fleeing.
