The witness was descending from Seneca Rocks on a shortcut and became lost in rough rocky terrain. They heard heavy footsteps and branches cracking, then saw the back of a tall orange-brown haired creature moving uphill about 30 yards away. They threw rocks to scare it off, but it did not flee, and the companion's dog barked then whimpered. The witness was night-fishing along a river trail when heavy footsteps approached on the wooded hillside. Shining a headlamp toward the sound caused it to stop, and it resumed after the light was removed. The footsteps paralleled the witness back to the parking area without ever emerging, and a search with a brighter light revealed nothing seen or smelled.
