Around 2 a.m. in late August 2011, the witness stepped onto his mother's back deck in Paulding County, Georgia to smoke. From the woods behind the house he heard a loud, deep howl repeated several times over about five minutes. Unable to match it to known wildlife or other sources, he went inside frightened and later found online howl recordings he felt matched what he heard.

He heard a single sharp knock from below the dam, then felt overwhelming fear and retreated to the house before returning. The witness was riding a motorcycle home from night work at about 1 a.m. when making a turn beside a cornfield. A large dark figure was seen standing at the field edge a short distance away. It leaned forward and gave an extremely loud high-pitched scream-like call heard again moments later, and the witness accelerated away without looking back.

The witness was fishing with two children and a dog at a remote lake when they heard a loud crash and tree-breaking sounds nearby. Over the next few hours they heard repeated rhythmic knocking, noticed a strong foul odor, and saw the dog become frightened and cling to them. They also noted many small snapped trees and worn foliage around the lake. They left in the afternoon feeling watched without ever seeing an animal.

While going outside for breaks between midnight and about 3 a.m., they repeatedly heard a distant moaning-howl in groups that agitated local dogs and horses. The witness and a companion were leaving a fishing spot behind a fish hatchery at dusk when the witness heard a crash and saw a tall dark standing figure on the trail they had just used. The companion ran ahead while the witness briefly watched the figure before running to a truck in fear. The figure was described as very tall with broad shoulders and seen only as a silhouette for a few seconds.

The witness brought a relative into a wooded valley at night to try tree knocking. After the witness knocked, several answering knocks were heard from the woods, including three immediate returns that startled the relative. No visual contact with the source is described.
