The witness was camping overnight near Lake Knoll with three children. In the middle of the night the witness was awakened by loud, repeated scream-like bursts and stayed awake the rest of the night. Later the witness heard additional sounds likened to animals fighting while the surroundings were otherwise silent.

An investigator interviewed the witness by phone and played audio recordings, one of which the witness said sounded very similar.
The investigator made solo and small-group day and nighttime research trips to the general area and heard wood knocks and vocalizations.
