Scream
The witness, a college volunteer helping with a search-and-rescue in heavy snow, hiked with two companions to a small work cabin atop Mount Macon and spent the night there. During the night something screamed and howled outside and repeatedly struck the heavy door and walls, terrifying the three men inside. By morning it was gone, leaving large indistinct impressions in the snow leading up to the cabin, after which the group hiked out.

He watched a large dark female figure stalk tree to tree toward the hogs, then leap, scream, knock a hog into an oak and kill it by pounding its side. The creature carried the hog off, exchanged calls with another unseen creature, then scented, located and stared up at the witness before walking away.
