The witness fled down the mountain and left the area after daylight.

An extremely loud scream was heard three times at short intervals, sounding closer each time and approaching very quickly. After the companion returned they found only indistinct marks and disturbed vegetation, then heard a single loud crack like wood being struck and fled the area.
