Kayakers report camp intimidation all night long on Lower Buffalo River
Two campers floating and fishing the Lower Buffalo River heard loud monkey-like vocalizations from the bank and later camped on a gravel bar. Through the night they reported repeated wood knocks, yells, chatter, whistles, a tree snap, and cantaloupe-sized rocks landing in the river from the ridge across from camp. They lit the camp, kept fire watch in shifts, and at dawn packed and paddled out after a final rock fell in front of them.
Strange encounters and possible tracks found in a swamp near the Douglas State Forest
The witness was clearing a trail by a swamp when they heard two splashes from across the water without seeing the source. While on the phone, they saw a football-sized rock fly through the air about three-quarters of the way across the swamp and land in the water. No creature was seen, only the rock in flight and the splashes.

The witness, his wife, and two dogs stayed at the family cabin months after a large fire. At night something thumped the house hard and moved outside while the dogs cowered. The next morning the woods were silent, neighbors reported something stomping around, and acorns and pebbles were thrown toward them near the car.

While camping alone at night near a stream, the witness heard a deep growl and saw a crouched dark mass at the treeline, fired warning shots, then heard rocks repeatedly splashing in the stream for hours and heard deep oof sounds on a later approach. Near dawn a very tall hair-covered female-like figure stood by the tent and walked rapidly toward the witness despite additional warning shots, then ran away over granite and out of sight. The witness remained in place until daylight and then hiked out.
Rock throwing in Missouri
A small research team camped for five days on the Missouri property to document ongoing rock-throwing activity. At night rocks repeatedly struck the tent, table, chairs and vehicle from a ridge above. The team marked piles of rocks with marker and later found marked rocks thrown into camp, along with foot tracks and a handprint.
Unidentified sound in North Carolina
During a recent Friday night investigation along the river dividing the property, the group heard repeated loud booms like boulders striking and splashes as rocks hit the water in different spots. They ran toward each splash with lights and night vision, hearing water droplets hit nearby foliage, but did not see who threw the rocks.
Tracks
Researchers visiting the property over about two years reported finding different-sized footprints, thermal-video figures that popped up and down in grass, rocks thrown while hiking, wood knocks and rock clacks, and a juvenile crouched in grass that one researcher approached. They interpret size differences as four individuals including two juveniles and two adults. They also collected casts, audio, and other trace evidence.
