Around 2 a.m. under a full moon, the witness awoke to grunting and snapping trees and saw a large hair-covered figure striking and eating a deer, then dragging it uphill. In the morning the witness found deer remains, drag marks, and a shelter-like structure of bent and broken pines.

Shade prevented him from seeing facial details. He returned to the station convinced the figure was not human.
