He approached slowly to about 30 yards, when it jumped up onto two legs and left very quickly. He first thought of an escaped gorilla, found mashed-down grass where it lay, and continued hunting.

Two people driving on a gravel road at night saw a tall gray-haired biped cross the road in front of their car and step over a barbed-wire fence. The animal moved slowly and showed no reaction to the vehicle. After driving on, the pair got stuck turning around in a wheat field, then drove back past the site without seeing the creature again.

While taking a break from seismic drilling on machines in a forest opening, the witness and a coworker noticed the woods go unusually quiet. The witness saw a large dark hairy figure stand up about 100 yards away and walk bipedally across the opening before disappearing into a ravine. The sighting lasted only seconds, and the coworker verbally confirmed seeing it.

A family of four stopped on private land to let the children play and to do target shooting in a deep ravine. A large grayish hair-covered animal lunged into the ravine close in front of the adults, paused to look at them, then leaped out and ran toward the parked car area. The family retreated to the car with the children and saw the animal stop at the brush line in front of the car.

The witness and his brother were hunting in river bottoms when the witness lay on a game trail. A tall hairy creature climbed the far bank, ate leaves, then walked into the field toward him. The witness fled on foot as the creature dropped to all fours and appeared to cut him off, then he found large tracks with his brother.

In approximately 1992, a deer hunter watched a large bipedal animal through his rifle scope for 15-20 minutes from about 125-150 yards away. The animal stood still and appeared to watch him back until a branch snap to the left broke his attention, after which the animal disappeared. The hunter left the area quickly without attempting to shoot or follow.

Late on a spring night in 1979 or 1980, the witness had been parked in a truck on a pipeline with a companion for about 45 minutes. After hearing rustling ahead, the witness turned on the headlights and reported a very large hair-covered creature standing a few feet in front of the truck. The witness immediately reversed to leave, and when looking forward again the creature was gone.
A sighting by two hunters
In 1979 two companions were squirrel hunting along a dry creek bed in late afternoon when their dog became agitated and ran off. They then saw a very tall dark silhouette standing on the high creek bank about 80 yards away that stepped behind a tree and did not reappear. Frightened, they left the creek by a low spot and returned home, finding the dog hiding under the house.

The witness walked down a creek bed on family land and stopped on the return uphill. The witness heard repeated high-pitched screams, first from thick woods ahead and later from behind. The witness saw a patch of dark fur by a tree and later the outline of a large head crouched behind a bush about 20 yards away. Frightened, the witness left quickly for the car without seeing the source again.

The witness was at a cabin in East Texas in the evening and went to her truck to get a wallet. As she grabbed the door handle the whole truck shook violently and she saw a huge dark mass hunched in the bed, taller than the cab. The mass flew silently across the road and railroad tracks while both she and her fiancé watched, and no tracks were found the next day.

As a teenager plowing bottomland alone, the witness stalled his tractor while turning under a tree. He then noticed a large dark bipedal figure along a distant fence line leaning side to side and moving a branch aside as if looking at him. After watching briefly he fled, managed to restart the tractor, and left; when he looked back the figure was gone.
Squirrel hunter has encounters not far from Trinity River
In 1978 the witness walked about a mile into the woods to a pin-oak flat and saw a gray, gorilla-like figure lying under a pine across the flat. He used trees for cover to stalk from about 100 yards to 50-75 yards, but it disappeared without him seeing it leave. He later found mashed grass and a strong animal odor at the spot and noted a complete absence of other wildlife.

The witness, a child at the time, was inside a mobile home with family and a family friend late at night. A heavy thud on the side and prolonged pounding on the door were heard, and the friend saw a tall hair-covered figure looking in through a window. The group hid and screamed, called for help, and the noises stopped; prints were found outside the next morning.

The witness was driving at night while towing a companion's car with two passengers when they saw a tall, hair-covered figure standing motionless just off the highway. After turning on high beams, the figure turned its head away and then watched them as they drove slowly past. All occupants observed the figure and noticed a strong garbage-like stench as they passed without stopping.

In 1977 two companions hunting frogs at a remote pond heard a roar and saw trees moving. One saw a large brown hairy form partly hidden behind a cedar tree and swaying. Both fled on foot while hearing heavy thuds, and one saw a large rock bouncing nearby. A few days later they returned and found a cleared limb bed and a limb torn from a mesquite tree, but no footprints due to rocky ground.

Late at night the witness was driving home along Highway 50 near the Sulphur River bottom when headlights from his car and an oncoming car lit a large dark upright figure on the roadside. The figure quickly crossed the two-lane road in a few long walking steps, appearing slumped forward with arms swinging. The witness slowed, stopped, turned around and searched the area with headlights but found nothing further.
