The witness was driving west on the highway in the late afternoon when he came around a curve and saw a large dark creature at the guardrail on the right. The creature stood upright, turned its head to look at him, then turned and leapt feet-first off the embankment out of sight. The witness believed it was not a bear because of its flat face, wide shoulders, and upright movement over the guardrail.

The witness was driving on Highway 2 when the car ahead stopped to avoid an animal crossing the road. The witness stopped behind that car and watched the animal from behind as it reached the left side of the road and walked into the bushes. The witness later concluded it was too tall and thin to have been a bear.

On a hot midday in 2004, the witness was walking alone on an overgrown forest road while cave hunting with her husband nearby in dense brush. After hearing gravel move behind her, she saw a huge cinnamon-colored hairy human-like figure cross a ditch in one or two fast quiet steps and stop motionless behind trees, leaving only a massive shoulder and long muscular arm visible. Frozen with fear, she slowly backed away about 100 yards before shouting for her husband, who arrived after the figure had vanished.

Three women driving from Lake Quinault toward the coast in the afternoon saw a tall, dark-haired bipedal animal cross the highway in front of their pickup. The animal glanced toward them, continued across without hurrying, and disappeared into brush on the far side. The driver sped up to get a closer look but the animal had finished crossing by the time they passed.

Two people stopped on a remote logging road at dusk to check their truck bed before meeting friends at a campsite. After getting back in with headlights on, they saw a large hair-covered figure standing in the road about 15-20 feet ahead. Before they could react, it jumped from a standstill up and over a roughly six-foot road bank and disappeared silently.

The witness was driving out of a campground near Baker Lake in the early afternoon when she noticed a large fur-covered creature about 50 feet away up a hill. The creature was still and crouching with its back turned, exposing its back, shoulders, hips and upper buttocks with sparse reddish hair and visible musculature. After watching for a few seconds and not wanting to disturb it, she drove away.

The witness, a newspaper carrier, was stopped by the road in the dark reviewing a route sheet. A figure approached the vehicle from the passenger side to within a few feet, appearing curious and focused on the inside of the vehicle, then crossed the road. The encounter lasted less than a minute, after which the witness drove away quickly and called emergency services.

Between 2 and 3 a.m. she heard movement approach her tent and brush against it, while a companion in a truck reportedly felt a nudge and saw a fleeting shadow. The next morning the witness found multiple large footprints around her tent, the trail and vehicles and made a plaster cast of the clearest one. While waiting alone in camp later that day she heard persistent clicking from the woods and felt watched.

The witness was driving west for work when, after cresting a hill, the witness saw in the rear-view mirror a reddish-brown hair-covered creature cross the highway from south to north. The creature walked without hurry with long strides and showed no interest in the vehicles. The witness stopped, turned around and searched the crossing area but saw nothing further.

A driver traveling late at night reported glimpsing a tall, broad-shouldered bipedal animal with dark bluish/grey hair descending a steep slope beyond the guardrail. The driver did not see its head and did not stop, hear anything, or check for tracks. He judged it too broad-shouldered to be a bear on its hind legs and unlike the elk commonly seen there.

The witness was hunting deer alone on a frozen mountain road in the morning when he noticed a black figure walking upright toward him from about 300 yards away. After it closed to about 250 yards it appeared to notice him, then crouched and leapt clear across the road into dense trees and disappeared. He waited and later searched the road edge and treeline but found no tracks, noting the ground was frozen.

While hunting deer alone in the morning, the witness heard repeated sounds like logs or poles being thrown, then found a tree with bark removed, a large packed bed, a human-like track, and unfamiliar scat. After glimpsing brown fur duck behind a log, the witness heard an extremely loud low roar-like yell from behind with crashing, then heard crashing and throwing sounds staying out of sight while leaving for about 200 yards. No full animal was clearly seen.

While camping alone in a tent on a hunting trip, the witness heard unidentified calls over about an hour and later was awakened by movement and shaking of the tent. The witness noticed the tent had been lifted and saw a shadow pass by, then illuminated a large dark human-like figure about 20 yards away that turned and ran into the brush. The witness kept lights on until sunrise and packed up and left the next morning.
Morning sighting by three fishermen near the east end of Riffe Lake
The witness was fishing from a boat with two young companions on Riffe Lake late in the morning when they spotted a large hairy biped about 150 yards away in a clearcut. They watched for several minutes as it walked away, paused to face and stare at them, then continued walking while looking back before disappearing into timber. The witness stated the subject was not human and was not a bear.
