In early July 1972 the witness was slowly driving family members on a faint dirt track atop a broad ridge when upright human-like figures appeared ahead to the left. From the water they noticed two ape-like figures standing near their packs on the shore and rowed closer to observe them. A couple with the wife's mother camped on newly bought mountain land. After dark a very loud siren-like scream lasting seconds came from close in the woods, prompting the husband to get a gun. Later that night something leaned against the mother's side of the tent and she struck it with a heavy lantern. The husband later said he saw red eyes during the scream.

The witness was hitchhiking and stopped for the night near a highway overpass bordered by woods. After feeling watched while trying to camp, the witness fled to the overpass and used a phone booth. Another person driving by then offered the witness a place to stay and a ride onward in the morning.

The witness and a companion were hiking in the Lost Creek wilderness on a sunny Sunday morning when they watched a creature near a pond from 100-150 feet for about 45 seconds. The creature was initially bent over and first taken for a bear, then stood erect and looked at them, provoking intense fear. The pair later returned with photographers but found no trace.

In a moonlit clearing he watched a human-like figure stand upright, share prolonged eye contact, then flee into the woods while making a loud hissing breath sound. A much larger figure then charged from the trees, crossed the clearing in a few strides, and stayed parallel to him through the woods until he reached the road.

The witness and a companion pulled their motorhome off Highway 101 late at night to rest. The vehicle was rocked three times over about ten minutes. After going outside, they heard a loud scream and watched a huge bipedal form run through the trees and across a stream. A patrol officer arrived shortly after and told them to leave the pull-off.
