Late at night four teens sat atop hills near a rural house and looked down toward the building from about half a mile to a mile away. The witness noticed a tall, thick, hair-covered figure emerge from trees by the house, move near the yard light, then sprint away bipedally with long strides across a clearing toward the river. The group watched until it was out of sight, then ran down to the house where others reported the dog had been growling and barking.

The witness and a cousin were riding four-wheelers on a woodland path when a tall brown furry biped dashed across the path about twenty yards ahead in about 3-5 seconds. On July 16, 1997, a tour guide driving tourists along a road stopped near a burned-out bridge and watched an upright, hair-covered creature for about 15 minutes from 70 to 80 yards away. The guide moved the bus forward and backward to give passengers views and tried to get a passenger with a telephoto lens to exit for photos, but no one would leave. The guide then drove away and could not relocate the creature on a later return.

The witness was riding as a passenger while the mother drove to work in the early morning. They came upon two large hairy animals lying on the highway and honked; one rose onto two legs and ran into the woods, while the other first ran on all fours down the road before standing onto two legs and also leaving the road to the west. The witness heard heavy breathing, tried to get out of the moving van to follow but was stopped, and a return to the spot later that day found no trace.

The witness was riding horseback with a companion and a dog along a game trail when she noticed a dark figure foraging about 120 yards away. The figure stood upright and sprinted up a steep ridge on two legs while swinging its arms, and the dog chased it out of sight. The witness rode another trail to higher ground but could not follow through the timber, and the dog returned later tired. The companion did not see the creature.
