The witness and family were picnicking near Deadmans Pass when they noticed a figure sitting and swaying at the forest line across a ravine about a half-mile away. They watched for four or five minutes until it stood up, revealing great height, then walked stooped into the woods in a few long steps. Six people hiking down a mountain trail in the afternoon saw an approximately six-foot dark-blonde bipedal animal scramble across the trail from upslope to downslope. A dog with the group chased it barking, then a fair-sized tree fell about 50 yards away, after which the dog went quiet and returned. The witnesses watched the tree fall from uphill but could not see the animal through the thick forest during the chase.

The figure was described as carrying a small child-like figure in its arms and moving quickly into woods on the far side. All occupants reportedly watched it and judged it was not a bear because it was on two legs and moved as it did.

Very early one morning in 1991, the witness was fishing along the Hood Canal shore and saw an animal digging that was first taken for a bear. When it stood upright, looked at the witness, and walked quickly north into brush and trees on two legs, the witness concluded it was not a bear. The witness later found two clear five-toed footprints measuring 15-16 inches where it had been and photographed them with a shoe for scale.

In April 1991 around 2 p.m., the witness was playing with a BB gun near a garden and ravine, jumped onto a rock, and encountered a roughly 5-foot tall hair-covered creature within about 13 feet. The witness saw a hair-covered bipedal figure across the river watching them for several seconds. The figure then turned and walked uphill into a thicket where it could be heard but not seen again. The witness stressed the figure moved quickly and silently through deep snow with an ice crust that was nearly impassable on foot.

In 1991 in the evening while driving a small car to a church function, the witness felt uneasy, slowed, and saw a sleek darker being come out by cottonwoods and look at her in the car. She sped up and saw in the mirror that it crossed the road in a couple steps to the other side. Unlike earlier encounters, it felt wrong and stayed with her.

Arms reached from dense buck brush, grabbed the deer by the antlers, twisted its neck, and dragged it in. The creature then stood, looked toward them, made a low vocalization, hunched down, and fled through the brush with great speed and force.

A sharpshooter fired and singed one's thick fur, after which both went over a sheer ridge and vanished. The witness reported strong musk like rotten fruit and believed the beings used cave entrances.
