Possible approach to a camp outside Penticton

The mother, sleeping with family in a tent trailer at a campground, was awake during the night while something was outside. In the morning the family found a cooler that had been tucked under the trailer dragged out, crushed, with food missing. The mother said she had seen its shadow on the tent wall and insisted it was neither a bear nor a man, remaining upset for most of the day.

Late at night three girls were lying on a bed by an open screened window talking quietly. After hearing footsteps and bushes rustling, a tall hair-covered creature placed its face at the window inches from the witness and stared for several seconds. In summer 1966, the witness and her older sister were talking in a parked car near a river in Albion in the evening while the rest of the family was on a nearby boat. Across the river they watched two large, hairy, bipedal animals chase a flock of about 50 sheep around a fenced pasture for 20-30 minutes. After dark they hid in the locked car overnight and reported the event to their parents in the morning, later learning several sheep had been killed with bellies and internal organs eaten.

A camp counselor leading about two dozen children on a backcountry hike reported encountering an erect, reddish-brown hairy creature at close range on a ridge in daylight. The creature watched the group for about a minute, then fled upslope on two legs. That night at a lakeside camp the group reported a strong skunk-like odor, distant landslides, a small dim green light, snapping branches, and large shadowy figures moving among trees for about two hours. Activity reportedly ceased after two counselors left to seek medical help for an ill child.

The witness was on foot hunting bears near a small clearing when he spotted three brown hair-covered animals scuffling as they moved away. He hid behind a log and watched as two mated face-to-face on the ground while the third stood and moved nearby, then he fired a rifle shot that missed. The three animals then fled into the treeline running on two legs.

A very loud yipping yell was heard twice, the family dog reacted fearfully, and nearby coyotes fell silent. The figure loped away with dangling arms and long, sure-footed strides, and comparison to the stump afterward led the father to estimate it at about nine feet tall.

Possible encounter with soldier training training in the Olympic National Forest

The witness was taking part in a nighttime military training exercise in a forested area in 1966 and was returning alone to the company area around 3-4 a.m. He noticed the outline of a large upright figure coming down a steep sandy hill toward a logging road while hearing footsteps and shifting dirt. When he challenged the figure, it responded with a loud growl, and he ran to the campfire without hearing pursuit. He initially told others the pursuer was a bear but later concluded it had walked on two legs and was a bigfoot.

The occupants in both the cab and the camper watched it cross quickly. They later stopped at a cafe where the father made a joking remark about what they had seen. A lingering egg-like smell was also noted in connection with the crossing.

Prior to the 1984 encounter, the witness was driving with passengers toward her mother's house when a bright light crossed her windshield and returned. Further down the mountain a very bright light sat low over a farmhouse and ditch. She drove past it within about 50 feet while it lit the area like daylight, then watched it rise, change shape, follow, and vanish near the lakes.

On the other side in a cottonwood tree he noticed a large ape-like creature with one leg swinging below a branch, and they made eye contact. At night the dogs panicked and fled, a foul smell arrived, and the group saw a large man-like shape standing in brush about 20 feet away by campfire light.
