They watched for about 10 minutes as it moved crouched, scratched its head and made deer-like blowing sounds, then stood upright after hearing a shotgun clink, causing the hogs to flee. The witnesses fled on a 4-wheeler and one looked back to see it standing by a tree watching them leave.

A 15-year-old walking home from school through the woods felt uneasy and then saw a dark upright figure standing on the trail ahead near a swamp. The figure watched from behind a tree, then stepped into the trail and disappeared into the swamp after less than a minute, leaving the witness temporarily unable to move. The witness later examined the spot, found no tracks on hard ground, and estimated the being at nearly nine feet tall based on a branch above its head and a roughly five-foot step.

Over two afternoons they heard loud primate-like calls and screams around camp, and during two nights they heard conversational vocalizations, rhythmic rock-clicking, and stealthy footfalls that alarmed horses.
