The witness was walking north on an old railroad track through swamp while hunting when howls from the woods paralleled the movement. About a half mile ahead a large black figure was seen in the road, initially thought to be a bear. As the witness closed to about 100 yards the figure stood upright on two legs, moved into a ditch and tall grass, pausing to sway and look back toward the road while howling continued, before leaving into the swamp. Feeling nervous and sensing another presence behind, the witness left the area.

The son wandered a short distance into the woods while helping with yard work and saw a large dark figure with its back turned. The figure turned to face him for several seconds, showing a hairless gray-brown face on a black-haired body with no visible neck and the head set low and forward. Early one morning the witness was talking with a coworker at a golf course bordering woods when he noticed a tall bipedal figure moving through dense brush parallel to a paved path. The figure, described as lanky and uniformly reddish-tan, walked with a long easy stride and covered ground quickly without running. After about 20 seconds it passed behind a small bathroom building and did not reappear on the other side. The coworker, who was facing away from the woods, did not see it.

The witness was riding as a passenger while driving south toward town at night when an upright figure crossed the two-lane road in the headlights of their car and an oncoming car. The witness saw only the upper body and pumping arms as it crossed the road in about two and a half strides and then disappeared. The driver also saw something but was unsure what it was.

On both nights they exchanged wood knocks with unseen sources and heard a whoop, and something large walked past their tent. Before dawn the witness was driving slowly on an icy highway when headlights revealed a dark upright figure paused in the ditch. The figure then ran bipedally across the road in a few very long strides and disappeared into woods near a vacant farm. The witness described it as tall, bulky and black with long arms and immediately called the spouse. A later daytime check of the site found no tracks.

The witness was driving east on Highway 169 toward Virginia on a bright Sunday morning when she spotted a large silvery-gray furry creature on a hilltop clearing north of the westbound lanes. The creature walked west toward the woods with a swaggered gait, long strides, swinging long arms and a slightly forward-bent posture, showing a conical head with little or no neck. After a few seconds median trees blocked the view, and the witness continued without turning back. A car stopped on the opposite side appeared to be watching the same thing.

The witness was driving on a road through pine forest and saw a large black human-shaped figure standing in the road about a quarter-mile ahead. The figure appeared startled, turned, and moved quickly off the east side of the road as the witness descended into a dip. After a brief loss of sight, the figure had vanished despite open visibility into the woods, and subsequent searches found only scattered garbage and no tracks.

The witness was driving east on Highway 2 east of Ball Club late at night when she noticed a large brown hairy figure standing off the side of the road. The figure appeared to be waiting to cross toward a nearby lake and did not look at her vehicle. She continued driving without stopping and later returned in daylight but remained in her vehicle.

The witness and a companion were working late at night preparing meat to feed sled dogs. While inside a walk-in freezer, the heavy door shut on them unexpectedly despite calm conditions. After exiting, they shone a light toward a trailer and saw a pair of very large reflective eyes about seven feet off the ground roughly twenty yards away. The eyes were gone after they returned with a brighter light, and the dogs that had been barking fell silent.

In November 2004 the witness was talking on the phone in the kitchen at night when he saw a large bipedal animal run past the barn. The animal was illuminated by the yard light for two seconds or less at about fifty yards distance. He estimated its height by comparison to a six-foot barn door and described it as dark, furry, and stocky with no obvious neck. He searched the next day but found no tracks because the ground was frozen with no snow.

The witness was deer hunting from a ridge overlooking a cedar swamp when he noticed a black head repeatedly appearing above 6-7 foot tall cedars at a distance. He first thought it was a bear but concluded it was something else because of its height, head shape and sustained upright posture, leaving when it grew dark.
