Around midnight on January 21, 2017 the witness was making calls from the front porch and received a wood knock response from across the street, which drew the dog into the woods. When the dog went quiet the witness entered the woods, beat on an oak and shouted for the dog, then heard knocks, chest-beating, howls, a bluff charge and a tree pushed over while seeing eyeshine. After the witness told the entity to back away, the dog returned and they went home.

The witness was walking north on an old railroad track through swamp while hunting when howls from the woods paralleled the movement. About a half mile ahead a large black figure was seen in the road, initially thought to be a bear. As the witness closed to about 100 yards the figure stood upright on two legs, moved into a ditch and tall grass, pausing to sway and look back toward the road while howling continued, before leaving into the swamp. Feeling nervous and sensing another presence behind, the witness left the area.

About an hour later the witness woke again and saw an upright silhouette pass by the tent. A third companion slept through the sounds, and the group did not stay a second night.

The figure ran downhill after the deer and disappeared into brush, and the hunters later found a very large footprint where it had stood.

Something charged toward them from a wooded hill, crashing through vegetation while emitting a terrifying howl/growl, and the witness glimpsed a black figure. Both girls fled back to their group in tears and left the area immediately.
