Two friends camped deep along a river between mountains in winter with no one else around. Around midnight they heard a huge splash as something jumped into deep water and waded across toward them with bipedal splashes. It stopped at the bank in darkness for a long silent period, then circled the camp staying just beyond firelight before leaving up the hillside. They waited until sunrise without sleep and hiked out without checking for tracks.

The witness was hunting alone from a tree stand near a powerline cut when a doe ran past as if spooked. Moments later a tall, hairy, human-like figure crossed an opening in the woods in a single fast stride and disappeared. Two of them went onto the patio with a rifle and flashlight; when the light was pointed at the treeline the shrieks stopped and something was heard moving away through the woods while grunting deeply. The next day the witness followed a wide trail of fresh tree damage through the woods for about two hours.

In May 1998 the witness hiked alone to Minnehaha Falls near Lake Rabun and remained until after dark. After noticing a bad smell and a squatting figure he mistook for another hiker, he approached and saw a very tall, dark-brown, hair-covered biped that stood, walked away with long strides, then stepped toward him before leaving. The witness drew his service pistol and shouted, after which the creature walked away, and he left the area without telling anyone at the time.

The witness and two companions made a late-night camp in a forest clearing. While trying to sleep the witness heard movement in the treeline followed by a grunt and a loud unfamiliar scream estimated 50 to 100 yards away. Two companions were walking at night toward a house when a noise at the treeline drew their attention. One companion fled while the witness briefly watched a huge dark-haired figure step down an embankment into the road about 30 feet away, hearing a grunt and smelling a musky pine odor. Both ran to the house and dogs chased the figure, with sounds of a violent struggle including roaring and shrieks before the dogs returned, one injured and another with blood on its mouth.

The responding deputy initially suspected neighbors, moonshiners or a grow operation, but later found a large hand-like dent in the house and an 18-inch footprint in the creek that he cast. The cast was later reported to show dermal ridges and to be considered authentic east of the Mississippi.

Three coon hunters were walking a trail at night when something followed behind them in the brush. On signal they shined high-beam lights and saw a tall dark brown hairy figure step across the trail in one stride and run up a wooded hill breaking limbs. They gathered the dogs and left without approaching.

In 1987 the witness was lying in a basement bedroom with the window open on a cool late-summer night. She heard a loud unfamiliar howling and screaming vocalization that frightened her and her dog, followed minutes later by heavy footsteps outside the window and on the deck plus a horrific odor. She sensed something pacing in front of the window as if looking in before leaving, then heard the same vocalization again and closed the window.

A family living in a rural wood-frame home reported repeated nighttime visits over several years by two large hair-covered bipeds, one larger and one smaller. Livestock on surrounding farms were found dead with intestines removed. After the father fired through a wall at one creature, only the smaller one was reportedly seen, and activity lessened after relatives guarded the house and a protective ritual was performed.

They later verified no other boats were present and concluded a person could not have been out in the freezing conditions.

The witness was riding a horse on a wooded dirt road at dusk when the horse became agitated. After hearing rustling and a loud scream, the witness saw eyes and then a large upright creature that lunged out and seized the saddle. Face to face with the creature, the witness clung to the horse's neck as it bolted without looking back. The saddle was later described as torn with deep gouges.
