The figure looked pale silvery-gray and shaggy, glanced over its shoulder, then leapt off the road down a steep embankment into brush. Next morning she found matted grass and a hole in the bramble where it left the road, but no clear tracks.

The witness was driving with windows down toward a hunting stand in a swampy management area before dawn when he encountered a strong unfamiliar musky odor. The companion separately reported hearing loud walking in camp that night, and no tracks or disturbance were found in the morning.

The witness and two companions entered the woods after dark to recover a deer shot earlier from a tree stand. While preparing to photograph the deer, the group heard an extremely loud scream from very close range, followed by the sound of something large crashing away through the woods toward a swamp. They saw nothing when they shone lights into the woods and quickly left with the deer without field-dressing it.

The witness was driving east out of Fort Scott, Kansas into Missouri at about 4 a.m. when a hair-covered bipedal figure ran across the road in front of the headlights in two or three steps and disappeared into forest. The witness noted a brief bad smell just after passing the crossing spot.

The witness and a companion were on foot scouting hunting ground in daylight when the witness noticed a large reddish-brown figure moving in the timber nearby. The witness saw only from the mid-shoulders up for a few seconds before turning toward the companion and looking back to find it gone. The companion did not see the figure but heard movement and footfalls, and a strong musky odor was noticed as the figure moved away.

A witness and a relative were carrying camping gear to canoes in the afternoon when they heard an extremely loud bellow followed by muffled talking-like sounds. The witness retrieved a shotgun and moved toward a river point while the relative watched from the canoes. The witness heard heavy footsteps and brush movement heading toward the rapids but saw nothing, and found dry crossing rocks with no splashing. He concluded whatever made the sounds must have leapt rock to rock to cross.

The witness and his wife were sitting by a campfire late at night drinking coffee when a strong sulfur-musty odor drifted into camp. A piece of wood then flew into camp and struck their trailer, and after the odor returned a rock was thrown into camp near them. The wife also heard distant screams that evening, and no other people were seen in the immediate area.
