A team of four was conducting a nighttime sound survey from a clear-cut overlooking a river valley while one member did a live radio interview from a parked vehicle near the treeline. The interviewer heard repeated charging sounds, footfalls and a grunt-growl from dense brush a few feet away while two teammates uphill watched with a night-vision device. The uphill observers reported a huge 8-foot-plus figure about 25 feet away leaning side to side to look through the trees and moving its arms. The episode lasted about 30 minutes, followed later by a distant scream, and a next-day search found disturbed soil but no footprints.

A strong putrid smell arrived with total silence as a huge dark mass approached to the wood line about 25 feet away and watched her for about ten minutes. A patch of brown fur was glimpsed ahead about six feet off the ground moving back into the woods, with no road crossing seen. A chained dog across the road was barking toward the woods and appeared agitated. On riding past the spot again shortly after, the smell was gone and nothing further was seen or heard.

Two men had finished dredging for gold and were talking when they noticed a large dark creature about 100 feet away partly behind a dead tree and tailings pile. The creature reached up and snapped off a tree limb, looked at them for 10 to 20 seconds while a strong smell was present, then turned and walked into the woods. They stayed in the area for two more weeks with no further sightings but reported smelling it several times.

The witness pulled off a highway west of Cody in late afternoon to hike north through timber and rocky outcrops. Over about an hour the witness heard rocks rolling, brush breaking and movement that seemed to follow and stop with them. While returning toward the road the witness turned to see an upright, brown, long-haired animal about 60-70 yards away that immediately leapt into dense timber. The witness was uncertain whether the sounds and sighting involved the same animal and noted a bear as a possible alternative, only later considering Bigfoot after finding a website.

A couple were trolling slowly by boat up a flooded channel while fishing. The husband saw a dark bulky figure hunched behind brush watching them, while the wife experienced birds going quiet and then saw bushes moving up into the woods as something left quickly. They backed out of the channel and left the area.

The family continued uphill without further sound or sighting and later reported the encounter to park staff.

Years later while researching in Washington, the witness and his wife were slowly cruising forest roads looking for trails. A huge black blur crossed immediately in front of their vehicle too fast to follow, brushing a tree that kept rocking. They saw no animal after stopping and heard no further crashing, concluding it must have been a Sasquatch moving at full speed downhill.

A semi-truck driver pulled over at a desert highway pullout at night and got out of the truck. He heard rocks falling, noticed a strong decaying odor that became gagging, and saw a large hairy biped cross the road in front of his headlights while making a loud grunt. The witness was cutting firewood and loading blocks into a truck when a very foul odor suddenly appeared. Looking around, the witness saw a brown-furred biped about 100 feet away walking up a slope out of a ravine with its back turned. The creature briefly steadied itself with a hand on a tree and continued uphill without looking at the witness. Frightened, the witness finished loading quickly and left the area.

Two relatives were at a tree house in the evening when one noticed squawking birds, a shaking tree, and a long tail. After regrouping in the tree house, they fled toward a vehicle when a creature reportedly jumped from the tree and ran toward them. They reached the house highly frightened and later refused to return alone.
