Two soldiers on a nighttime security patrol left the patrol base and noticed unnerving silence, cold air, a strong rotten odor, and sounds paralleling them and following behind. They heard a knocking sound and a whistle that mimicked their own signal, then encountered a large shaggy shape blocking the trail that rose from a crouch and walked away upright. They were found by an instructor about a mile from the base perimeter and later told by leadership not to discuss the incident.

The witness and a fellow trainee were pulling night security in foxholes at a remote patrol base when they heard slow footsteps and had small stones and a stick land near them. The shape then left rapidly through the draw with loud crashing and a large splash in the creek, after which leaders arrived and joked about Bigfoot while the fellow trainee remained shaken.

The witness was alone hunting deer from an elevated stand before sunrise when a strong musty odor grew stronger. He then noticed a tall, hairy biped partly concealed behind a large tree about 25 yards away, swaying from side to side and making short low grunts. After he glanced away to reach for his scoped gun he heard it moving through the woods, and when he looked back it had disappeared.

A few days before a tree-treatment job, the witness drove to a turnaround at the end of a logging road to wait for a contact. He heard a loud snap, heavy running footsteps, tree movement, knocks, three whoops, pebble impacts on the truck, a loud yell and a throaty shriek, and glimpsed a dark figure. He left and met his contact at the paved road.

They waited until sunrise without sleep and hiked out without checking for tracks.
