The witness then heard a deep growl followed by a loud progressive scream that seemed non-human and kept hearing vocalizations after going back inside. In July 2006 the witness was biking through a swampy, wooded area toward a friend's house in the late afternoon. Near a knoll the witness heard sticks breaking and footsteps, then saw a tall dark figure to the side and heard a frightening vocalization. The witness screamed and pedaled away fast while continuing to hear breaking sticks, and the creature reportedly fled bipedally in the opposite direction during about ten seconds of observation.

The witness visited a pine forest site three times in the early morning. On the first visit he heard heavy footsteps retreating, smelled a skunk-like odor, and saw a rock thrown into water. On later visits he heard loud repeated calls and low moans, heard footsteps approach to within about 15 feet without seeing the source, had a large stick thrown near him, left food and recorded vocalizations, and noted indistinct footprints and large broken trees.

Shortly after 1:30 am the witness was awakened by aggressive barking and went to the porch to investigate. He heard heavy bipedal footsteps, loud screams and howls that approached rather than retreated, and fired shots into the ground. He later heard repeating groups of three heavy knocks and was shadowed along the fence for over an hour without ever seeing the source, leaving him and the dogs shaken.

On a cool afternoon in February 2007, the witness and a companion hiked in the woods to look for clues about strange activity. They reported finding large human-like footprints, possible bedding areas, territorial tree markings, and a freshly fallen oak with bark that looked chewed and wet. Around midnight they heard a huge splash as something jumped into deep water and waded across toward them with bipedal splashes. It stopped at the bank in darkness for a long silent period, then circled the camp staying just beyond firelight before leaving up the hillside. They waited until sunrise without sleep and hiked out without checking for tracks.

On two nights after 10 p.m. the witness and her daughter saw a short grey slender shape dash behind trees and run toward cover near the river, followed once by a thud and high-pitched shrieks. The family also heard patterned rock clicks and nearby walking and breathing, and noticed a skunk-like odor. The family became frightened and packed to leave.

The witness was staying at a cabin near Lake Mary and took two dogs for a night walk. The dogs began growling and pulling toward sounds of rustling leaves and breaking branches. The witness shone a flashlight and saw a huge ape-like but human-built figure about 200 feet away watching and swaying between trees. After a minute or two the figure turned and walked away, and the witness hurried back to the cabin.

Two people were shining lights for alligators beside a lake at night when vegetation beside the dock shook and repeated knocking like wood hitting a tree was heard. A nearby tree then fell, and as they ran toward safety they heard heavy steps and grunting keeping pace parallel to them. About an hour later they returned and found a tall tree freshly snapped about eight feet up with dripping sap and a hair on a branch.

The witness was walking home at night near a creek when something began throwing sticks and rocks and following her. The throwing reportedly paused when cars passed. She ran to a bridge where the pursuer entered bushes but continued throwing objects, while she heard footsteps, smelled a strong bad odor, and glimpsed only a large dark figure. Footprints were reportedly found in sand the next day.

The witness and a companion were hunting raccoons at night with a hound that first treed a raccoon then pursued another animal through forest. After the dog returned frightened and stayed close, the pair tried to walk out in darkness with failing lights. For an hour or two they heard something large circling them with heavy footfalls and crashing vegetation and small trees breaking nearby, but they never saw the source.
