After catching their own dogs, the witness heard wading steps, a growl and a whistling sound and smelled a strong putrid odor while the dogs whimpered. The witness then saw a very tall hair-covered creature standing behind them that hissed and splashed water toward them before the witness fled. The creature followed briefly then moved away making moaning sounds, and the witness saw a very large four-toed footprint while leaving.

As they circled back, an unseen animal tracked them, producing a strong foul odor and a high-pitched squeal before thrashing off toward the mother waiting at the truck. They later found uprooted small trees, additional tracks in camp, hair on fencing, and a woody debris structure, and heard screaming and a howl that prompted a relative to leave camp.

At night after the woods went quiet, something heavy approached bipedally, roared, reached through pines shaking and pulling them, and lunged with huge hands. He knelt and put his shotgun in its midsection but did not fire when it backed off, then it screamed, circled the camp throwing trees, iron-ore rocks and dirt while they kept a bonfire burning until early morning.
