Kayakers report camp intimidation all night long on Lower Buffalo River
Two campers floating and fishing the Lower Buffalo River heard loud monkey-like vocalizations from the bank and later camped on a gravel bar. Through the night they reported repeated wood knocks, yells, chatter, whistles, a tree snap, and cantaloupe-sized rocks landing in the river from the ridge across from camp. They lit the camp, kept fire watch in shifts, and at dawn packed and paddled out after a final rock fell in front of them.

The witness was spending the evening on a relative's front porch shortly before Christmas. After knocking three times on a deck rail, the witness heard three knocks returned from nearby woods and later saw branches moving despite no wind. About an hour later the witness heard footsteps and pacing beside the house for about 15 minutes and attempted to record the sound on a phone.

The witness and a companion stopped off a forest road so the witness could target shoot while the companion waited at the truck. After the witness returned to the road, both heard repeated very loud cracking snaps from a wooded hilltop about 100 yards away, spaced about 30 seconds apart, along with movement and bark-ripping sounds. The witness walked partway up the hill filming with a cell phone and captured at least one loud crack before returning to the truck and leaving.

Two people had been fishing at Caesar Creek Lake and were packing up after sundown when a growling/hissing sound came from the treeline. They shone a flashlight into the woods and saw green eyes, heard trees and brush thrashing as something moved, and smelled a strong scat-like stench. After watching about five minutes they gathered gear and walked back to the parking area feeling watched.

A group visiting a remote cemetery heard an extremely loud, unearthly yell-like sound coming from about 1000 yards away past a fallen tree across Sugar Creek. The witnesses said it was not a known farm animal and captured it on a camcorder, though quieter on playback. They also noticed a dank, musty odor on the breeze apparently coming from the direction of the sound.
