Day hiker sees large, hairy animal which seems to follow him
The witness pulled off a highway west of Cody in late afternoon to hike north through timber and rocky outcrops. Over about an hour the witness heard rocks rolling, brush breaking and movement that seemed to follow and stop with them. While returning toward the road the witness turned to see an upright, brown, long-haired animal about 60-70 yards away that immediately leapt into dense timber. The witness was uncertain whether the sounds and sighting involved the same animal and noted a bear as a possible alternative, only later considering Bigfoot after finding a website.

The guest's grandmother said that when his uncles were young, his grandfather was chased out of his hunting spot in the Grays area by one of these creatures. The grandfather refused to discuss the incident. The family treated the subject as taboo that should be left alone.
