The witness camped alone at a remote alpine lake and saw a black shiny shape on a ridge during a day hike that stayed motionless when called to. That evening while cooking the witness heard a loud screech, then after dark was awakened by extremely loud cracks followed by falling rocks, with a second closer event about 40 minutes later. The witness stayed awake afraid until daylight and left quickly in the morning.

The witness was walking on a dirt road in the evening when a gray-brown figure was seen standing between bushes at a distance. After the witness spoke, the figure made a loud grunt, then turned toward a second grunt heard deeper in the forest and walked away. Shortly before midnight during a multi-camp expedition, the witness borrowed a handheld thermal imager to look for the cause of a branch break near camp. Through the imager he watched a large unclothed human-like figure partly behind a tree about 30-50 yards away for over two minutes as it moved its head, dropped to the ground, crawled and gestured, then stood motionless with its back to him. He left to get recording equipment, but the figure was gone when another researcher checked moments later.

A large black figure stood up about 15 feet away on a steep downhill slope, showed agitated movements and cheek puffing, muttered and then screamed before leaving over a stump downhill. Looking back into an inlet, the witness saw a very large two-legged figure standing in tree shadows and swaying side to side before leaving.

The witness and a companion were camping at an isolated lake over a long weekend. On Saturday morning they began hearing very loud guttural scream-growls that seemed to warn them away from certain areas, including the path to the lake, and the sounds continued into Sunday. Overnight they heard cooking gear clanging and a heavy thump like logs dumped beside their trailer, but in the morning the gear was largely in place and no logs were found, and the companion also reported a strong putrid smell.

Something charged toward them from a wooded hill, crashing through vegetation while emitting a terrifying howl/growl, and the witness glimpsed a black figure. Both girls fled back to their group in tears and left the area immediately.

The witness was driving east on Highway 12 at night with relatives when headlights illuminated a fur-covered biped on the roadside. After passing it and turning around, they saw it again after it had crossed the road, passing within a few feet as it walked by the guardrail before it disappeared on a second turnaround.

The witness was taking overnight ambient-noise measurements at a rural residence surrounded by timber land. Shortly after starting, after hearing distant coyotes, she heard loud scream-like howls exchanged between two directions for about 30 seconds. After a quiet period during which nearby dogs and a horse became agitated, she heard another solitary similar howl-scream from the same direction.

Four telephone-line workers heard ape-like high-pitched sounds while working on an isolated road lined with pines and brush. After the witness mimicked the sounds, a large hairy biped crossed the road about 60-70 yards away and paced back and forth, repeatedly stopping in the road to stare at the witness. The witness described upright human-like walking, long arms at the sides, hips wider than shoulders, and an extremely large foot. The animal eventually left into thick bushes leading to heavy fir.

Around 2001 the witness and a companion hiked Heather Lake Trail in the late afternoon as the last hikers on the trail. While taking turns stepping away to urinate near the top, each had a rock thrown at them from an unseen source. As they hurried and then ran back down, they heard heavy stomping and breaking branches moving parallel to them, and another rock was thrown after they briefly hid behind a tree, prompting them to flee to their car frightened.

Two forestry workers resurveying a remote allotment for a timber harvest reported being followed at a distance while smelling a heavy stench. During a break they heard large movement in the brush, threw a piece of wood toward the sound, and then saw the backlit shadows of four hair-covered figures behind bushes in a break of sunlight. The witness described two large males standing motionless, a thin female with a hump who vocalized and wrung her hands, and a smaller child-sized figure, before the light faded and the pair left the area to finish work later.

A hunter and his son paused on a ridge while elk hunting in the morning after hearing a noise and a snap. The father saw a brown, long-haired biped from the shoulders down standing in old cuttings, which grabbed a tree and swung behind it to keep the tree between them. The son reported hearing a high-pitched scream and grunting that the father could not hear. They searched the spot but found no sign, noting an unusual absence of deer and elk sign.

On the far side of a pond they saw a dark, broad-shouldered figure standing chest-deep in water with its back to them, repeatedly raising its arms to slap the water. A dark figure crouched by the guardrail stood, raised its arms, then lay down in the lane and the car drove over it. The witness left the scene out of fear, later reported hitting a bear, but no record of the call or physical trace was found the next day.
