In December 2001 four hunters were leaving the woods along a logging road after dark when something in the adjacent swamp repeatedly screamed and charged toward them while breaking branches. The group was armed but could not see the source, felt the ground shake, and described the screams as extremely loud and frightening. After several bluff charges, the source moved deeper into the swamp and the hunters left the area.

A couple left the trail to take photos by a creek. They heard loud deep roaring, scream-like and growl-like vocalizations approaching from across the creek, along with large branches breaking, and believed something was circling them. After the sounds stopped they felt watched, fled down the trail, and heard a large animal tracking them along the creek.

The witness adds that he was stalked himself the next day.

Three teenagers were fishing and cooling off in a creek when something crashed down the steep hillside, threw a rock between them and screamed and roared. They scrambled to the bank and saw a large hairy human-like creature at close range making a display, tearing up ground and showing its teeth. They fled, leaving all their gear, and never returned.

The father saw a brown, long-haired biped from the shoulders down standing in old cuttings, which grabbed a tree and swung behind it to keep the tree between them. The son reported hearing a high-pitched scream and grunting that the father could not hear. They searched the spot but found no sign, noting an unusual absence of deer and elk sign.

Six soldiers on a night recon patrol through swamp heard an unseen presence following and circling them closely for 10-15 minutes, weaving between them even after they split into two groups. Later two soldiers in ambush position heard a loud scream-roar twice, followed by the sound of a large rotten tree falling and brush breaking. The sounds then stopped and the presence was heard leaving.

The witness was walking a logging-road loop with two dogs in the afternoon when the woods went quiet and the dogs froze. About 50-60 yards uphill the witness saw a very large shape standing among oaks and brush. The shape grabbed and shook two oak trees and made a loud wailing scream, after which the dogs disappeared and the witness left quickly for the house.

From behind a parked vehicle the witness heard two grunts, a loud low scream, and repeated chest-beating sounds, but did not see the source. The witness listened for departure but heard nothing leaving and found no tracks in the morning.

Late at night they heard prolonged bark-like screams from two directions, then encountered a tall hairy figure at close range with a flashlight. The witness motored by airboat at night into an oak hammock to gig frogs and stopped for coffee. After hearing tearing vegetation, ground banging and a loud shrieking scream, large clods of mud were thrown at and onto the boat. Shining a headlamp, the witness saw a huge brown-haired biped about 25 to 30 feet away pumping its arms in an aggressive display, then started the boat and fled to the middle of a nearby lake until daylight and has avoided the spot since.

The witness was deer hunting alone before dawn from a rocky bluff. While glassing the brush-covered mountainside in gray light, he heard a very loud booming scream from several hundred yards upslope that he compared to a woman screaming. He first wondered if someone was playing a trick, but the steep terrain, darkness and dense brush unnerved him and he left the area immediately.

In early July 1988 the witness was alone at a summer camp when rustling and screams were heard from a rocky ledge above and a white upright figure was glimpsed moving behind trees. Two companions ran down the hill saying they had encountered a large white humanoid ape-like creature with long arms on a trail that screamed and fled after eye contact. The companions were shaken for hours but later denied the incident, and the witness remains uncertain whether it was a costumed person or a real creature.
