The witness was lying awake in a tent at a restricted lakeside camp around midnight when she heard slow, rhythmic footsteps circling the campsite for about 45 minutes. The walker paused near food areas, approached another tent when a child cried, and left after a car alarm sounded, stepping over a fence into the woods. She never opened the tent to look and concluded from the stride and sounds that it was not human.

Nothing was ever seen, and the group left the hillside quickly after the close growls, later listening from camp.

Later in a quarry area they reported watching a human-like figure in night-vision goggles that crouched when noticed, followed by a rock thrown nearby, after which they left.

Around 2 a.m. rocks landed in shallow water near the tent, followed by a voice-like sound, and at dawn the dog stared into the woods while the witness packed to leave. The witness reports never seeing any animal or person.

The witness noted the nighttime disturbance could have been a bear, but also noted a food-strewn garbage bag was left untouched.

He became frightened as it got dark and returned to camp without seeing the source.

When the witness stopped the sounds stopped, and when walking resumed the follower kept pace. The witness ran toward home and the follower pursued onto gravel and pavement on two feet while making low growls and calls and trying to cut the witness off. At the house the witness's dog confronted the unseen pursuer, which halted very close before withdrawing into the brush.

The witness stayed awake afraid until daylight and left quickly in the morning.

Overnight they heard cooking gear clanging and a heavy thump like logs dumped beside their trailer, but in the morning the gear was largely in place and no logs were found, and the companion also reported a strong putrid smell.

Something charged toward them from a wooded hill, crashing through vegetation while emitting a terrifying howl/growl, and the witness glimpsed a black figure. Shortly after starting, after hearing distant coyotes, she heard loud scream-like howls exchanged between two directions for about 30 seconds. Around 2001 the witness and a companion hiked Heather Lake Trail in the late afternoon as the last hikers on the trail. While taking turns stepping away to urinate near the top, each had a rock thrown at them from an unseen source. As they hurried and then ran back down, they heard heavy stomping and breaking branches moving parallel to them, and another rock was thrown after they briefly hid behind a tree, prompting them to flee to their car frightened.

The witness saw a very tall dark silhouette with thick long limbs cross the road in front over a small bridge, moving quickly. No one else in the party noticed it, and the witness recalls no sound or odor.

The family moved to their car, and the witness later stood outside in darkness sensing a very tall man-like presence nearby, hearing breathing, footsteps and snapping twigs and smelling a musky foul odor. After headlights showed nothing, the odor and sense of unease lifted and the family returned to the tent for the night before breaking camp the next day.
