The witness arrived before daylight to deer hunt from a ground blind near a road above a steep slope. From inside the blind he heard coyotes, then hollering, rock-banging or wood-knock sounds, and whoops as something ran up the slope, crossed the road, and stopped in thick brush behind him. He then heard loud raspy breathing and growling and smelled a strong obnoxious odor for about five minutes before the animal ran away along the treeline and the woods went quiet.

Something in the trees paced him from the side, stopping when he stopped and continuing when he walked. The witness was deer hunting alone in the morning when he heard an extremely loud low growling sound from dense cover upslope. He could not see the source even with binoculars, but saw branches shaking about nine to ten feet up and two basketball-sized rocks roll out of the cover toward him. Feeling watched and unnerved, he walked out calmly the way he had come while the sound continued until he rounded a bend in the trail.
