A family camping in a tent at the mouth of a river woke around 5 a.m. to sounds of something moving in the water followed by repeated large splashes described as rocks being thrown. They retreated to their boat offshore, where the witness shone a flashlight and saw a red reflective glint near the tent. They waited until daylight, found nothing at the spot, then broke camp and left.
Motorists describe boat on trailer being shaken violently at night near Lake Cowichan
Three people driving with a boat on a trailer stopped on a logging road at night. While stopped the truck shook and rocked sideways and the boat and trailer were pushed toward the side of the road by something unseen. The driver drove away thinking it might be an earthquake or landslide. Later inspection showed the boat twisted on the trailer with a split hull, damaged tie-downs and latch, and non-working trailer lights, with no claw marks found.

During a multi-night group expedition the witness slept locked in a truck parked on a logging road above the tent camp. At about 4:30 a.m. something struck the truck, waking the witness, who remained still with eyes closed and heard heavy bipedal footsteps walk away down the road. After a radio mic click apparently drew it back past the truck, the steps departed again toward another camper's position, who also reported hearing movement. The episode lasted about 15 to 20 minutes and involved no visual sighting.

The witness was fishing from an anchored boat about 50 feet from shore late on a very dark night. Large rocks were thrown from a forested and inaccessible shoreline, with one barely missing the boat and a second seen hitting the water. The witness rowed back to the campground, where others reported hearing five splashes. A search of the suspected shoreline the next day found no footprints or other explanation.

The witness was sitting by a campfire outside the family motorhome with two dogs while her husband was inside with the children. She heard repeated huge splashes in the nearby lake that sounded like large boulders being thrown far out into the water, and the dogs became frightened. She discovered her husband had been inside asleep and had not caused the sounds, and he then also heard splashes while inside. A check outside with a flashlight revealed nothing further.
Possible approaches to a boat ramp on Kootenay Lake
The witness reports sleeping aboard a boat moored in a marina slip and repeatedly hearing a heavy visitor come down the metal access ramp late at night and walk across the floating docks, displacing the dock enough to rock the boat. The steps sound widely spaced and cover the ramp and dock sections unusually quickly. The pattern recurred at least once each summer holiday over several years, with a bucket of fish offal sometimes found emptied afterward and whoop-like vocalizations also heard.

The witness and a coworker were doing slashing work in a dry logging block when the coworker said his safety helmet had been moved about 100 yards. The witness examined the helmet and saw no marks. Together they looked near where the helmet had been left and found about four large footprints in clay mossy ground.

The witness was on a multi-day winter camping trip with her husband in a remote area. One evening she left the camper to collect ice, felt watched, and hurried back. Later that night while sleeping in the overhead camper bed she awoke to the camper being nudged and heard a deep sniffing sound outside at the level of the sleeping area. Her husband slept through it, and no tracks were found because the snow was packed to ice.

Before dawn the witness heard the heavy outdoor freezer lid being lifted. After daylight she searched around the house and found two large bare footprints in the driveway about 50 feet away, with no other tracks nearby. She measured and photographed the prints as rain and mild weather melted them, and her daughter also viewed them.

Three people hunting in the early morning reached a frost-covered hilltop clearing. They found a shredded shrub with branches piled like bedding, numerous freshly dug holes, and a stump holding freshly picked plants, all without frost. Late at night they heard repeated very large splashes from the mainland side that sounded like large rocks being dropped or thrown into the water. They considered a beaver tail slap but felt the timing and resounding sound did not fit. They told their parents, who attributed it to teenage imagination.

After dark, rocks were repeatedly thrown hard and accurately at the group, continuing through the night until dawn and frightening many campers. Motorists recount incident on the side of a highway near the BC-Alberta border
The witness and companions had pulled to the side of a road to sleep in their car late at night. After hearing a slap or thump on the roof, the witness looked out and saw a tall, hair-covered biped running across the road toward the woods, lit by passing headlights. The group then left to sleep at a truck stop instead.

A logger driving back toward the log landing in sun glare struck one of two hair-covered figures on the road. The struck creature fell into the ditch moaning while the larger one approached. Both then pounded the pickup, smashing the windshield before the driver fled. Managers later ordered the truck flattened and buried to conceal the incident.

The mother, sleeping with family in a tent trailer at a campground, was awake during the night while something was outside. In the morning the family found a cooler that had been tucked under the trailer dragged out, crushed, with food missing. A prospector camping alone in coastal mountains awoke at night to being carried inside his sleeping bag for hours to a small enclosed valley. There he encountered four hair-covered individuals described as a family group and was held for about six days living on remaining canned food. He gained favor with the younger ones using snuff and handmade utensils, then incapacitated the adult male with a large dose of snuff and escaped during the resulting commotion, hiking south to a logging camp for help.
Witnesses hear, smell, and feel something large moving & walking right next to them
Late at night in heavy fog, the witness's wife went to the outhouse and encountered something very close that she heard moving and smelled strongly, then fled back inside. The witness went outside with a gun and flashlight but could see nothing in the fog, though he heard bipedal footsteps, noticed a strong odor, and heard a low screeching sound toward a relative's home. The next morning he found a barbed-wire fence broken down with nails pulled out but found no tracks or hair.

Three companions walking back from swimming along a forestry road felt watched and heard snapping branches and rustling paralleling their movement. When they shouted and threw rocks toward the roadside bushes, rocks were thrown back at them while growling sounds were heard and the accompanying dog barked. Frightened, they ran to a nearby activity centre and later told a parent, who suggested a bear.
