The group hid in their tent while something raided their food bag hung in a tree and ate their snacks. The witness peeked out and watched a large hairy biped squatting nearby eating bean dip before it stood and walked away up the trail. At dawn they found the food cache torn down and learned another nearby camp had also been raided.

In August 1984 four teenagers were camping overnight on a wooded ridge when they heard unexplained noises and their dogs became agitated. A very loud yell came from just behind their lean-to, which shook visibly, causing the group to flee through the dark woods. One teen briefly froze before following, later reporting grunting and footsteps behind him. The next day the group found the lean-to torn down, the fire pit rocks scattered, and a strong wet-dog-like odor at the site.

The most intense moment was a predawn episode with a deep guttural roar followed by a scream-like sound near camp. They left early after smelling the odor again near a plum thicket.

The group heard a noise ahead, then saw a very tall upright figure with red eyeshine in the weak flashlight beam. The witness and a companion drove to a picnic area in a forested area at dusk to relax after bowling. While outside the car the witness heard loud heavy strides coming up the hillside, followed by a low growl-like sound, prompting both to get in the car to leave. As they drove away something thumped against the car. Later under bright lights they found large handprints in the dust on the roof, side panel and door.

Three people camped without tents in woods near Traverse City. During the night they heard movement around camp and sounds of something disturbing the vehicle, but waited until daylight to check. In the morning they found ferns flattened in a circle around the camp and very large footprints on a sandy road and by a creek, which the witness believes was a Bigfoot.

After dark, rocks were repeatedly thrown hard and accurately at the group, continuing through the night until dawn and frightening many campers. The witness and a companion briefly saw a fleeting human-like figure running along the treeline toward the group before rejoining the others and sheltering behind driftwood.
